Heads are off. New springs and keepers in hand. Needs new exhaust seats. Going to replace exhaust valves as well. Still mulling over new intake valves. Heads will likely go to the machine shop tomorrow.

Today the engine is together. All initial adjustments made. Been waiting for sealers to dry, and spark plugs to arrive tomorrow. The plan is to light a fire under it then.

So while waiting, I went to get the 2003 Marauder out and the 6 year old battery took a dump. Always something. New battery in and a 26 mile drive.

Hopefully I can drive the 1963 tomorrow

It wouldn't be any fun if you didn't have to work on them....... right?

I don't know about fun any more, but it's certainly the only way to KNOW what you have

Like I said, it's always something

Looks like I need a new battery maintainer

So I went to put some fire to it a while ago and the only smoke came from the battery terminal

Exactly the same thing happened to the 63 Marauder today that happened to the 03 yesterday. Hit the key, a quick click, and boom everything goes dark and quiet. But today I actually got to see smoke come out of the terminal. Both batteries have recently been on this old maintainer.

2 days to get a new Motorcraft battery, I don't have a spare, and don't want to spend the money for something else for 2 days use (has to be Motorcraft)

Could take a battery out of a driver, but I'm just going to be patient

Here I was worried about timing and leaks and I get hit with the battery instead

    Who said this was fun?

I can’t stand replacing something I already own... Even more so when I can’t upgrade. If fact, it’s usually already an “upgrade”.

Pulled the charger apart last night and the circuit board is corroded. Definitely the reason I spent $300 on batteries. Crap
