Blue Exhaust Smoke On Cold Start

I've got an 04 Marauder with 1500 miles on it. On cold start up it emits blue smoke for approx. 5-10 sec and then the exhuast is clear. Car runs good and does not consume any oil that I can tell when reading the dipstick. Does it take more miles for the rings to seat? Maybe a bad valve seal? Anyone with a similar experience?

The dreaded valve tick... it's coming soon. Your blue-white smoke is most likely caused by a warped valve guide in the two rear cylinders on the driver side bank of the engine. You might soon develop a "ticking" sound coming from your car. Keep a close eye on it.

More miles for rings to seat - hopefully! Mine did this on & off for the first 1-2000 miles and has not done it again since - just getting ready to turn 30k! Does not burn ANY oil between 3k mi oil changes.

I can't say for sure what is normal, I can tell you this, my MM. does not do it, my 95 C/V does not do it.

When I recently watched my car being dynoed, the power train goes to about 140 mph in 3rd, gear; my car did not smoke.
However I saw about 8 to 10 cars on the dyno and remember seeing a couple of them smoke.

I personally believe that a new car should not produce blue smoke at any time, but that's just me.

My '03 has only done this twice since I've owned it over the last nine months .
Once when I first got it with about 6,000km on the clock ( about 3,600 miles ) and again with about 12,000 kms ( 7,500 miles ).

It hasn't done it since and the last incident was 6 months ago .
The car now has 22,000 kms on and does not use any oil and runs really strong .

I mentioned this to my dealer and it has been noted .
Built in Canada... and proud of it!

Mine is doing it too!! But, I have 31,000 miles on my car and it just recently started....(right before Indy)

But, she's in the shop now getting a physical, so I should know in a day or two what the problem is......the initial "unconfirmed" diagnosis is that the valve stem seal(s) are leaking....but we won't know for sure until the "Doctor" has checked her out completely!

    Updates to follow!
