rauder775, guess we share some of our story in common. I still have my 88 police CV.

Anyway, I've attached the article where I first heard about the Marauder. I thought all might enjoy.

This is a good story. Back in early 2001, I was at the Ford plant in Wixom MI for training on the newly released Lincoln LS. Part of the training included a plant tour. During the tour I noticed 2 black Grand Marquis' and a black Crown Vic with a odd looking hood. I asked" What are those cars over there?". The trainer replied "Those are Marauder test mules." I told him I had seen the concept car but was not aware that it would be built. He said "yea it's a go but it's in the early stages of development." He also added" There's another one up on the hill. One of my co workers test drove it and the hood flew up and smashed the windshield. I guess he thought we wouldn't miss a $140,000 development car so he parked it up on the hill." When I asked about the powertrain he told me the two Grand Marquis' had 4.6L 4V engines and the Crown Vic had a supercharged 4.6L 2v engine (thus the funky hood). He added they had just decided to equip the cars with the n/a 4V engine.
I knew that day I would own one. That following June Steve Babcock was at the All Ford Nationals in Carlisle PA promoting the car. I introduced myself to him and told him I was waiting to order mine. He was very personable and answered all my questions with enthusiasm. One year later in June 2002 I took delivery of the first Marauder in Charlotte, NC. That's an interesting story too but I'll share that one later.

I saw the concept in 2001, then I received an invitation to New Port L/M to see one that they trucked around from dealer to dealer.

I was driving to go look at a 99 gtp at the local Honda dealership. I was on my way to hopefully buy it. I got distracted by this tiny dealer with 5 maybe 6 cars. I saw on top of a hill a black 03 mm so I pulled in real quick and bought it without even looking at the gtp. Best decision I ever made!!

I saw my first Marauder in the late '80s.
    It was a blue '64 with a 390.
I still see the car from time to time, it's my uncle's. He bored/stroked it to 427 cubes, the car is absolutely perfect, it was an Arizona car.
Also I remember reading some old HRMs and they had pics of the NASCAR Marauders from the early 60s.

It was back when I was in college in about 2002 and I remember I was supposed to be working. Instead, I messed around and got on the internet and started looking around for cars. I saw this site that had an article on this new mercury that was based on the Impala SS and instantly fell in love with it. Called my co-worker over to check it out and told him, I'm gonna get one of those! The next year and a half they were everywhere! (I'm from Detroit) Well, I eventually got one, took me 6-7 years, but I got one!

Had anyone posted this review before? If so, my apologies. http://www.newcartestdrive.com/revie...&ReviewID=2477

When I bought my Marauder used, the stealership gave me a copy of this review with the carfax.

In 03 I saw my first one a a dealership in St Charles IL, I Was a Airborne Express driver and was making a delivery at Negri Mercury. I had never seen one before and it was love at first sight! But after I looked at the window sticker I knew I would have to wait. I went home that evening and told my wife " I just saw my next used car today" Last spring I finally got that 03 black beauty. Its been a blast so far and thank goodness for the members on this site with so much knowledge and so many helpful tips that have made ownership a little more affordable. My car needs a little help in areas but draws a lot of looks and is a blast to drive!
I can barely see the road from the heat comin' off of it

Saw it on a Carmax showroom floor on a Friday afternoon when my Cousin had to buy a use car. Was placing a down payment on my first car (A Marauder) that Monday. Must say my dad was PISSED. ...until he drove it.

I bought a really nice '04 Grand Marquis in 2008. Shortly after looking more into the car and modding it a little, I found out about the Marauder. Regretted buying the Marquis and after 2 1/2 years of owning it, I totalled the Marquis (unintentionally) and had the opportunity to finally get my hands on a Marauder!...now I just need a Trilogy...
