Mechanical or Electrical Trans. Temp Gauge?

I've decided to simply go with a transmission temp gauge. Just wondering which would be the best? Also where should install the sensor on either. Thanks in advance

Go with an Auto meter electrical gauge, install the temp sensor in the test port on the drivers side of the trans near the linkage.

Seems like I read where the test port location wouldn't give an accurate reading. May have been on an F-150

I've used both the pan port and the test port , there was absolutely no difference.

Test port is post converter and can average 30* higher than a pan temp. I think this is a good thing and my preference.

Lidio told me the same thing when I had him install the trans temp gauge while there for a dyno-tune. He put an Autometer manifold in the outlet line to the trans cooler, saying it's best to measure at the hottest point.

The computer.... because it's plugged into the OBDII port.

Mounted mine in my B&M deep pan. No wonder it never goes over 150 degrees. Works for me. I can add 150 to 30 in a reasonable period of time.
