10,000 a year is not high. These cars have never once held anything I'd refer to as a stable price. They are in fact a roller coaster and always have been.

Honestly if I was looking for another nice and clean but affordable one that I could count on for many years of service then I'd be looking at anything between 80,000 to 180,000 mile ones and only owned by senior members here.

Dollar amount would never be a consideration to me when only talking a difference of $5-$11 grand on average. There's not too many other cars that you can depend on, hit the open road with the family, run at the strip, and show on Sunday all in the same weekend with, not too mention getting pretty hard to see others in your travels.

I supercharged a Marauder that had 220k miles and it never blew up the motors are pretty strong. As far as what the car is worth their rare limited cars and getting rarer! pretty much whatever the asker is asking you have to pay they're not on every street corner anymore and really never were. Not many of these around so you got to ask yourself the question how lucky am I to even be finding one for sale and it depends how bad the seller wants to Let It Go. hard to put a value on something so limited. And lastly just because one guy sells a hundred thousand mile Marauder for 6000 doesn't mean that sets the value thereafter for all the rest.

I don't think there is anything wrong with buying a high mileage Marauder as long as the previous owner appreciated the car and took care of it. And if they have their maintenance records to prove.

    Just bought 120K car

Great question. I just bought a 120K mile car and I can say there are pros and cons.

Pros: If you do your homework, you can buy a car in great condition regarding the basics. I found a Nevada car and the frame and body are wonderful. I've had 2 mechanics tell me that haven't seen many cars this age with a better looking structure. There are still enough of these out there for you to find one. And mine was completely original too. The DOHC 4.6 and tranny are great and if you buy a well-kept car, you can get a whole lot of life out of a hi-mileage motor / trans. Luckily, Marauders are usually owned by people who care about their car more than most.

Cons: You had better be a 'car handyman' if you get one this old. I have done 5 or 6 little projects on the car in the first couple of months. I've had the interior apart several times:
    - to discover the door unlock code (drivers side door)
    - Replace dead window switches (rear pass door)
    - new speakers (front doors again)
    - new speakers (back half of interior to get at the ones on the shelf)
    - rear window lifts broke , replaced them, sliced up the hands

I also upgraded brakes. And I still have a sizeable 'to-do' list.

Love doing this stuff and I've had fun doing this. The Net (and especially this forum!) helps tremendously too.

The point here is, if you like doing dribs and drabs of work to resurrect a nice worthwhile driver, there are plenty of Marauders out there to be had IF you are patient; just don't expect mechanic-work-free weekends when you buy one.

With cars like ours, the deciding factor is condition and proper maintenance. I have seen MMs with low miles but were beaten that I would not buy for even 50% to 75% of the asking price. I have also seen very well-taken care of MMs with higher mileage that were very well and properly maintained.

Mileage is one of the lesser factors here. Look for excessive wear and tear on the engine, transmission, rear end and frame. If the car was driven in the northern states, look for rust and corrosion.

I just bought one today with 166k miles. I could not believe the condition when I looked at it and the price was great. Why pay more for a worse condition car just because of some numbers on the dash?!

SergntMac's car (used to be Mary's) has over 210,000 miles and they took it to Carlisle this year from Cape Cod.

I know it's not a direct comparison, but many many Crown Vics do 300,000 miles and more in less-than-ideal service.
