I Bought the Cheapest Mercury Marauder in the USA by Mistake (Youtube)

New Marauder posting to youtube yesterday. Carmax valued the 2003 Marauder higher than the 2004 Bentley Continental GT.

Not the cheapest in the USA.

I sold mine a month ago for $2,500. Running driving perfect mechanicals and a clean title.

    So HA!

Hoovies Garage. His channel is quite silly. I saw this yesterday and wondered who owned this.

Why so low? I’ve yet to see one in this region for less than $6k and they’re borderline beaters.

Because it was ugly and had 200K+ miles on it. Visuals sell cars, mechanical is secondary. Mine was 100% a beater, but it was the most solid reliable comfortable (and air conditioned!) beater I have ever had.

I wasn't out much anyways, I paid $4,300 for it got 3 years and lots of miles out of the thing, PLUS over 50% back on my original purchase price. I do all my own work and get parts at cost, so including the $1,400 settlement I got from Super America because they sold me bad gas I actually drove the thing 3 years and 50k miles for about $600 in mechanical repairs, not including maintenance and gas. One of the cheapest vehicles I've ever had repair wise.

You were blessed. Doesn’t matter if you believe in a ‘higher power’ or not. Loving my car more each day….

SG KANSAS. Only a 45 minute drive from me to him.

I hold the title for lowest amount paid for a WHIPPLE 2.3 Marauder with baer brakes, headers, and supporting mods. It was "broken" when i bought it, the mechanic dropped the blower and eventually locked up the snout bearing. I fixed it for $60.00 and that included a new belt.

I almost want to say the car in the video has more than 103K on it. Should have done a carfax on it!

First time watching this guy and I agree very strange. Video was cringy and guy seemed full of himself. Didn’t like how much he put down the marauder.

Most people do because they don't understand the Marauder.

Not thrilled with his review of the marauder. Most of his complaints apply to that car specifically. What do you expect to get for 5k these days?

I bought mine broken. I got it cheap. It's not perfect. I have 0 complaints about it's condition.

May have the record for the cheapest trilogy car.

Haha. I think Jerry has that title! Running and driving SB for 6k.
Maybe it was a eaton, I've slept since.

    Nice score on both parties

Found the car by accident. Belonged to a friend of one of my customers. Shut off when driving, was towed to a shop. They were unable to get it running. Sat for about a year. He decided to give up on it. I gave him 3k and winched it on the trailer.
New battery, fresh 93, and cleaned the contacts for the chip. It started and stayed running. Changed the oil and filter. Drove it a bit, and it has stayed running. Had one belt walking off a pulley and touching the timing cover. Replaced both belts, tensioners, and pulleys.
Drove it more, runs great, but lost 3rd and 4th gear. Need to get it inside and drop the pan.
