Buying a New Car/ Which One???

I know I will catch some flak for this one but here goes. I will buying a new car in the next couple of months. I am torn between two cars. One is the Ford Taurus SHO. The next is an Alfa Giulia Ti Sport. Being a tried and true Ford fan the decision should be easy. But I will be starting a new job with FCA and the Alpha falls under their corporate umbrella. We have a great tuner here the Detroit area that works wonders on SHO's. The Alpha scares me a little because of the small dealer network and questionable quality. The Alpha is cool and is not seen on every corner. The Taurus reminds me of the Marauder, big and fast. Which one???

Well first off, if you're starting a job at FCA I wouldn't call it an "alpha" since it's an "Alfa" IE, Alfa Romeo

The SHO is way out of date and soon to be axed. I'm sure you can get good employee pricing on any FCA product so go get a Giulia with an extended warranty. I've been seeing a LOT of Giulia Q4's around. Starting to see plenty of Stelvios as well.

The taurus reminds me of the marauder because it was a big car with not a lot of interior room.

The Chevrolet-Holden SS is another choice. Plenty of 'Certified Used' units sitting on dealer lots but I would bet there is still a brand new one on a lot somewhere.





And guess what? There are still brand new 2015-2017 Dodge Vipers sitting on dealer lots around the country.

If you get a company discount, anything SRT should be on the table, 392 and up, I don’t think I’d even consider a soon to be discontinued car or one with questionable service or parts availability.

But hell.... I’m driving trucks, what do I know? Lol

My brother in law owns a bright red Alfa Giulia (2.0L turbo I4) and he loves it. He hasn't had any problems with it.

I own a black Fusion Sport (2.7L twin turbo V6) and I love it. I haven't had any problems with it.

We both want to drag race each other, but never seem to be able to get a grudge match scheduled!

BTW: I considered a Taurus SHO, but it was too bulky looking and just too big. Rearward vision in an SHO sucks too.
IMHO, the Fusion Sport is a sweet looking sedan that moves.

I will need all-wheel-drive so the SS is out as well as the SRT's. I don't like the GT's that Dodge has with the Charger and Challenger. If the SRT was offered with all-wheel-drive it would be a no brainer. I still like the SHO but I think I want something out of the norm. Also, not a big fan of the Fusion. Nice car but not me. BTW, my girlfriend is picking up her new car this week too, a KIA K900.

The SS' Still hold their value. They price from 30-42k based on Mileage and Transmission. The 6-speed is more desirable. And sometimes the color of the car plays a part in the price. For instance, in 2015 only 61 Alchemy Purple SS' were made and of that 14 came with 6-speed Manuals. If you are looking for another Collector car, the SS has already hit that mark.

I would get a Fusion Sport before I ever got a SHO. For the physical size of the SHO it feels like you get just as much room in the Fusion. And every time I park my Vic next to one it still puzzles me by how much bigger they are, wider and taller, yet they feel so small on the inside. Plus for the price tag, I would rather get a the Fusion Sport, the SS or a Scat pack Dodge.

Speaking of which, the only way to go in the Dodge world is the Scat Pack. you get the SRT power without the SRT Price tag.

I don't know much about the Alfa's, other than I like how they look.

30,000-Mile Update

We probably should have known we'd eventually get to this point, but that brings no satisfaction now that we're here. We'll just say it: After a trouble-filled 30,000-plus miles with our long-term Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, we have officially begun criticizing the periodic warning lights that appear on its instrument panel.

Mind you, we're not referring to our complaining that the warning lights have come on (although there's a lot of that as well) but actually criticizing the placement, color, and luminosity of the warnings themselves. Hey, critics are going to critique. But still, it indicates a familiarity with warnings, both false and true, that is pretty shameful.

Yes it is. The one I want is the Giulia Ti with the sport package and all-wheel-drive. Turbo 4 with 280hp and 310 torque. Goes 0-60 in 5.1 seconds and the 1/4 mile in about 13.7 seconds. I'm looking at a 2018 for around 35,000. I wanna a white one with the pano roof and red leather interior.
