Thread: What is this coolant line called?

  1. #16
The best silicone spray is Permatex, if you can find it. I use it in the engine bay profusely and have yet to replace a hose on any of my vehicles since the 1980's. The stuff comes out like sn0t but works better than others out there. In a pinch you can use most others but some are dry silicone and not really good for what we are looking for. BTW, I had the same problem. Mine is rusty too, try to solicit members here preferably from the West Coast to search their parts stash for a clean one. Then paint the b@lls off it and install it.

Look a rust test, hmm can you find the silicone coated sample? What were we talking about? Oh yeah rusting parts in the engine bay.

i never said wd40 doesnt prevent rust, i simply stated its not safe for some rubbers and silicone will do the same as a rust preventer, and if your going to go spraying your entire engine bay and undercarriage, i wouldn't recommend it. if you recall, i did say wd40 is a great product none the less. you cant just take some random steel, spray it with different lubes, and say "wd40 works better!", different steels, alloys, molecular make up, porosity, etc will change results, so some scrap steel thats tested doesnt cut it for real life results. example: stainless steels and non stainless steels.

practice what i preach? im simply stating facts, i have used silicone on my engine bay, and its not rusty, and its a daily driver, and it has 153K on it....

heres the outlet on my catch can, catches everything down to 10 microns in size, not even enough for a drop.....whats yours look like?

dont call BS on me when im stating facts, dont exaggerate what i say. im not on here to steer someone in the wrong direction, just here to give solid advice and back up my statements when you, or anyone else, try to call me out. i'll take advice, but no one is going to tell me im wrong, when i know im right.

Exclamation Where can I get this part??????

Does any one know where I can find this hose?
It has been discontinued and seems to be unavailable everywhere.
Mine is rotting out and I need to replace it sooner rather than later.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

original parts are gone, so unless someone is keeping one from a parted out Marauder, your best bet is to use a heater hose as mentioned unitl you may or may not find that needle in the haystack. and yes, others have run into this issue and have fixed it without the part. Don't forget to burp the coolant sytem of all air or it will overheat.

I know this is an old thread, but there is a replacement part from Dorman. I know this because mine just rusted out after 203K miles and I did OE part # cross on Dorman's website.

    Dorman part number 626-202

    OE numbers: 3W7Z 18663-BA or 9W7Z18663A
