Thread: Member Build Thread Section

    Member Build Thread Section

A few other forums I am on have a section dedicated just for members to start a thread about a project they have for their vehicle. I think it would be nice to have something here like that. Members can post up pictures of their build process and other stuff.

Would be a great resource to go to for everything from headlights to stereos to SC installs.

Exactly. I'm about to start my audio install and thought.... where would I even put the thread?

So this is a little different than our "DIY Resource Room" or could this be included? The DIY forum could be renamed.

What is is called on other websites and where does the forum fit in? We would want it in an intuitive "go to" place.

    I like the idea!

It's kind of the same but has a lot more open options, also the DIY section here is locked
ctrlraven, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
You could put it under the DIY forum but have it as a Sub-Forum in that section. The other forums that I am that have it as it's very own forum section under The Garage. Having it stand alone I think would be the better choice. Like the one member who is using a MM engine/trans/frame and putting a truck body on it, that's not a DIY type of thread, that's a "Member Builds" type of thread.

Could list it as "Member Builds" and the description underneath can be "Post your car/truck build progress here!"

    Sounds good.

DIY Resource Room: Initially the idea was to point Moderators to threads that could be a resource, without all the bantering back and forth - just straightforward information - and moved to the DIY forum - hence the lock. We could unlock the DIY section, but then there would be the tendency to carry on conversations in the thread, which was not the intent.

If anyone does want to have their "how to" write-up added to the DIY Resource Room, just PM an Admin with the thread link. If we need to remove "the banter" to keep it just to the info provided by the OP, that's fine. We'll copy it from the original location, leaving the original thread as-is.

Oh, once this is done...(not sure how quickly we can do it)...we'll ask that any thread that fits - PM an Admin with the thread URL so we can move it over...
