Is the SCT Livewire a better programmer to get then the X4?
If it was used from a F250 Diesel, I can erase the module and load
tunes for the Marauder correct?

No, looking to purchase a used unit for my Silver Marauder.
Hoping MartyO or someone more familiar with these units will step in. I suspect if the unit is still 'married' to the truck in question you won't be able to use it. I'd check with SCT as they have a knowledge base, weekend phone support and online 'chat'.
I just bought an X4 myself and am still getting acquainted with it. I have a much older Superchips device that came with my 2005 Mustang when I bought it in 2011 - it will always stay 'married' to that particular car and the canned tunes can't be changed or modified. Won't accept vendor tunes as far as I can tell.
Fortunately, I'm happy with the 93 octane tune that came with the device.

The used unit is not married.
The live wire is useable. It just includes more bells and whistles so it’s $200 more compared to a new x4.
I had problems with their canned tunes on My Grand Marquis years back. A custom tune is the way to go. Talk to MartyO.

SCT now puts this on their website for tuners:
This product is not legal for sale or use in California on pollution controlled motor vehicles
SCT should know better than that. California emissions standard is the adopted US federal standard. If its not legal in california its not legal in the usa.
