    Opinions on tuning software

Hey guys, looking for some tuning software.

I found the "SCT Advantage III Ford Pro Racer Software". Any opinions, good/bad?

Any other software out there you prefer? Thanks for the input.

I've got an older SCT xCal II tuner, but it works well.

I think both Lidio and Mo use SCT software for their Marauder tunes.

There are many choices, I would check out forums on others. There is the SCT PRP, Binay Editor/Moates, Sniper, HP Tuners...
I have the SCT PRP and an Xcal3. Quite a learning curve as with anything of this nature. I love it though! I do recommend a tuning book and or DVD though if you get it: http://www.lasotaracing.com/

I love the smell of Nitromethane and rubber in the morning!

Can't speak on any other software, but i have Sct Advantage III and like it.
Got it after i had to have pcm replaced to get through state inspection. New strategy code is an updated one and not carried by any of the current tuners at the time. It got old having to email/pm back and forth for adjustments/tweaks. Getting dyno tune is not always conveneint.
It can be a bit over wehlming when first starting, if you're not used to it. The help section plus the book is quite usefull. All things don't have explanation so you may have to use the internet as well. You can tweak setup so it does not let you do anything harmful. Used it when i self installed my supercharger. May not be totally optimal, but i'm not really a track guy, but it keeps me rolling. Still plan to eventually get a dyno tune after i install headers.

Just went thru state inspection ritual last month with my own tune and passed with flying colors.

Ditto, what RacerX said. Get the Lasota book and dvd

Tuning yourself is AWESOME. If you want to start easy, have someone dyno tune the car using your stuff. Then you can play with it from there. I have played both with Advantage III and Binary Editor.

    Yes.

The xcal 2 and a professional dyno tune unlocked a crapload of midrange power from my car.

Anyone have reviews of the best place to purchase the SCT package from? As far as best support and good books to help understand things.

Also any good tuning forums would be great.

Is the SCT forum pretty active? I'm really wanting to take the plunge but know I will need help along the way. I ordered a couple of the greg banish books though to at least get an idea of what I am getting into.

It's not very active, BUT, there is an absolute ton of info in the forum from years of posts. Most of the posters are a different calibre than your average car site. Reminds me of the yellowbullet guys with a lot more tech.
