Yes, the stock belt still fits and works perfectly. I use a gatorback-type belt in the stock size with my u/ds.

But there are issues with the U/D pulleys on these cars. Specifically with the stock altenator pulley.
EDIT: Disregard if you do not have the clutch'd alt. pulley.

I had underdrive pulleys on my car for almost 2 years with no problems at all. The only minor issue was that the lights dimmed a little at idle when there was a heavy draw, but Dennis bumped the idle in Drive speed by 100 RPM and that cured it.

The 2001 Cobra (4V) used the same u/d crank pulley as the 2V Vics/GTs.
There has been quite a few problems regarding front crank harmonics/vibration due to the smaller diameter crank pulley.
