    calling all 1320 experts

    Hey all,

So I haven't ran the car yet but I was hoping to get some advice on my current setup. Right now the car has:

    4.10 gears

    3500 stall converter

    Stainless works long tube headers

    JLT CAI

    Marty Tune.

    The problem:

I feel like the 4.10's with 3500 stall is too much. In theory shouldn't I be able to go with idk, say 3.73 gears or 3:80's and be able to run the same time? or very very close? or is my setup perfect. Let me know what y'all think.

The gearing will definitely affect 1/4 times depending on traction. bigger gearing better 1/4 times.

It’s fine if you have good traction.

    I ran a 13.74 with a similar setup and others ran 13.50.

Traction is never a problem for slow cars.

Always fix the traction problem first. MT drag radials on widened rims should fix traction. Then you will find that the 4.10's are just fine with your stall. If so, then going faster can be fixed with a power-adder (S/C). Only then will going down to 3.71's or so will help. Otherwise, you are just spinning your wheels. My ET's went down after stroker and M122 when I switched from 4:30's to 3.71's.

I believe you'd want to cross the finish line at red line in your 1:1 gear whatever gear that happens to be.

You want to gear the car to cross the stripe at peak power. Use the converter to get you to peak power off the line, if you are looking for max 1/4 performance. But if you just go to the track every once in a while, I would stick with what you got now.

We run a 3k stall with 4.10's and cross the stripe at 7k and 138mph with 28" tall tires.
