    Engine Almost Ready to Install

I'm hooking up absolutely EVERYTHING for a test fit while it's on the stand. Figured out the belt length today, had to wait for the new SC bracket to get here. Here's the front of the engine without the blower installed...

Notice the early style front cover with 3-bolt steel tensioner that pulls up rather than to the side. And the Innovators West SFI overdrive pulley.

Lookie there, all those Metco aluminum pulleys, even the oversize alternator pulley...
Look real close and you'll see the file marks on the alternator where a couple of support ribs had to be cut down to clear the s/c pulley. The standard pulley (which I'm using) has both lips intact, the one intended for this application has the lip removed from the side closest to the alternator.

And even a Metco pulley on the custom home-made idler on the other side.

    Here's something new:

Thanks to Joe Walsh for suggesting this idea.

Two coolant tubes. The bracket had to be that long to clear the blower bracket, but whenever I swap to the KB in the future I'll bring them back down to the normal position.

The tubes run along the side of the block:

To the rear head coolant bypass:

From the tee it goes to the two heads:

I have installed flow restrictors in each of the two tubes going to the heads so they should have equal flow. The heater hose was wrapped with thermal tape first, then the convoluted tubing was put on top. It's so close to the EGR tube I thought it would be worthwhile. Still gotta get the other heater hose installed, it connects to the opposite side from where it originally connected due to my planning ahead for fitting the Cobra lower manifold which is used with the KB.

    Side Shots

Here's a shot of the driver's side. Notice the wiring harness is a mess as I'm adding some special taps.

I also still need to add the fittings for the oil pressure sending unit and warning light switch.

    Here's the passenger's side:

Hey Joe, notice that not only did I paint the side bolts and freeze plugs but I even painted the motor mounts!

Jeez Brian, you are gonna subject that beauty to daily driving? J/K

A few pointers as usual, but Im sure you've thought of them:
Loose the EGR, it takes up space and is not needed.

Remove the coolant tubes and reinstall after the header is installed, unless you are installing it before the motor goes in.

    Lastly, dont blow it up!

Yep, it seems a shame to drive it and get it all nasty. But it should make enough power to be a real blast!

I plan to keep the EGR. The MAP sensor is integral to the EGR and the MAP signal may be used for timing adjustment in a future tune (to accommodate another mod in the works).

I'm gonna put it in the way it came out, tranny attached and passenger's side totally assembled to include header, starter, motor mount, and tranny lines. Driver's side will have to be assembled after it's dropped in.

I'm gonna take it really easy on the tune. Gotta start fuel system mods soon, too. Tim is kind of paranoid. Anxious to see what it does, but scared to death that something may go wrong.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    WHOOOO BOY!

    Does that engine look wicked!

I love the parallel heater core and rear head coolant lines.
That is a super clean install.

The braided fuel lines and 'Y' block are sweet looking too!

BTW: What type of fuel logs are you using? Did you have to modify them to work on your engine?
I am going to upgrade as much of my fuel delivery system as I can when I install my F.I.T. Procharger.
The motor mount brackets look 'purdy' too...

Still gotta get another nipple put on the coolant crossover tube to put it all together, but it's pretty much what you said you were planning to do.

Fuel rails are from CPR. They are the only ones made for Marauder (FRPS is on the opposite side for 'stangs). I did have to modify them anyway, as many have found out the passenger's side sits too far out from the intake manifold and causes the injectors to be tilted so much that the o-rings leak fuel. But I also had the anodizing removed and ceramic coating put on instead.

Very impressive! You had better get that thing installed before you get more ideas of ways to improve it...

I only see one line going to the heater core. I also don't see the hard line installed in the valley to the center of the water pump housing. What are your plans there that I can't see?

Is that a knock sensor mounted to the back top of the passenger head? Does it work well there?

Hey Brain your motor is looking awesome....
I'm moving along on mine but nearly this far along....

Im glad you stepping ahead first though.... you arre doing a major service to the marauder community by sharing you mods, trials and tribulations with the group....

I myself have to say thankyou.... you have put out some great Ideas that I plan to implement on my motor....

Question: Do you plan to us the SCT MAF BA2800 or 2400? or just MAFia?

    John
The hard line is kind of hidden. It is the one for the Cobra and it comes out on the opposite side. Gotta put the heater hose on it still, I'll post another pic when I get that done. The reason for the change is that I am planning to switch to the Kenne Bell twin screw sometime and it uses the '03-'04 Cobra lower intake manifold which does not fit with the Marauder metal tube.

Yes. The Trilogy and Kenne Bell kits relocate it to the back of the head like that, so I assume it works ok. It won't fit under the Cobra lower intake manifold. Actually the mounting bosses even have to be cut off the block to fit the intake manifold.

    Thanks for the compliments.

You're welcome for the info transfer.

I already have a BA2400 and discussed swapping to the 2800 with my tuner. He suggested using the MAFia with the 2400 instead. Claims the 2400 has better resolution and would be better for street use.
