I have the corect part number for it somewhere and I will look forit.
My tuner - Sal @ PSP - cautioned that when going to the lower temp T-stat you really should adjust the radiator fan to run at a lower temp and most importantly adjust the closed loop/open loop function of the tune for the lower temperature so you don't get stuck in the "cold engine/warm-up" mode waiting for the engine to reach an operating temperature that it might not reach due to the lower temp. T-stat.

Exactly, if the computer isn't setup for the lower temp you may do more harm than good. Fox body guys throw 160's in their car then wonder why they run like ass.

Also If your T-stat is 195 and your car is running 210+ you have another problem other than your T-stat.

The best combustion occurs at about 190-195 degrees.

Replacing the thermostat alone will do nothing useful for you.

The 180 stat helps with adding more timing in your tune.

    Actually, it does not. MYTH!
The stock Tstat is 188. 8 degrees difference will not allow for increased timing.

Couldn't you also look at it from the perspective that, running the engine cooler, REQUIRES more timing to achieve efficient combustion? Rather than assuming that adding timing is always a positive thing? Like a good cylinder head, will make max power, requiring less ignition timing advance, than a poor cylinder head that takes a lot of lead time to achieve complete combustion?
