The fastener is for to secure the regulator frame.
I stand corrected, the lock actuator is on the face of the door
    Panel.
    Same rivets needed .

That is part of the rivet that secures the door lock actuator to the door.

Fix: take off the door panel, using a 14/20 x 3/4 bolt, nut and washer secure the actuator back to the door. The bolt head and washer should be on the outside.

yes its a rivet that holds the door lock actuator.

You will have to grind the rest of it off the actuator. removal is simple

Find a small random nut and bolt and bolt it on, or if you have a big enough rivet gun, install a new rivet

3/4 of a inch might be too long, i just did one and used something close to 1/2 a inch that worked.

    Have fun!

If you take the door panel off and do the R & R labor, I bet any local bodyshop will throw a rivet in there for a few bucks. I have a box of those rivets AND the big-ass rivet gun. It's not a practical thing to own. However, the run channels, window regulators, door glass, and door handles are all installed with these rivets.

^---- I have that huge rivet gun too, i can't remember what I paid for it, but it's 2 foot long

Sure beats 389.00 I paid for a 6 inch socket to remove a packing gland off a cylinder rod to replace the seals.
6 foot pipe wrench with a 5 foot cheater bar wouldn't take it off

    Gotta love tools

I use SS nuts, bolts & washers instead of the rivets.

I just did mine as well on the passenger side, replaced with a standard bolt, washer and nut. Works great now.

FYI, down in the door channel I found a half dozen old rivet flanges they had just dumped in there before sealing up the door. Saved the UAW Member making $70 an hour in salary and benefits the 10 seconds to carry them to the trash.

Make sure to put the actuator hook in the little plastic loop that it goes through BEFORE you bolt it in.

Clip that secures the actuator shaft to the lever on the latch.

If you want to own the bigass(tm) rivet gun, harbor freight has them cheap and they work fine for light duty occasional use. Then again, some of the body rivets are really huge...it has a limit. https://www.harborfreight.com/heavy-...tle-66422.html
