    Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge

For some odd reason, the rear tires seem to wear faster than the fronts, on all my vehicles... I wonder why?

So the fronts will last for quite some time, but the rears were in really rough shape. I know most here go with the BFG KDW2, but I was searching for a compromise between performance and all-season capabilities... I ended up going with a pair of Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdges (255-55-18). Linky-linky

Here they are, ready to be mounted on the wheels:

I haven't had a chance to really test these out yet - It's been raining off-and-on, since I installed them... One thing's for sure, these tires DEFINITELY handle the wet roads better than the stock BFGs. Eevn at a deadstop in the rain, I have to really press down the throttle to kick in the traction control. Hopefully, dry traction will also impress me as much.

The installer put 40# in the tires, but that seems high, to me. Temps are about 40-45 right now, so once they heat up, that pressure must be going high than that, too. For those with 255-55-18's on back, what tire pressure do you go with?

In the meantime, here are some quick pictures (sorry for quality - it's just my camera phone):

PS - What would a tire replacement thread be, without a burnout on the old hides:

I have a set on my Audi and I am impressed. Actually, I think that they handle better than the car in a way. I go around a corner and I don't lose anything, but after the corner the car sets down. It may mean I need new shocks.

Nice, but what's the price? I went with BFG KDW2s instead of other options because the other options available at the time were considerably more expensive.

There is not, but my fronts have a lot more life left in them. Next time I replace the rears, the fronts will be done at the same time... Then I'll search out a matching set.

In terms of cost, yes, they were a little more expensive than the BFGs, but I wanted something that could handle a few trips through a light dusting of snow, if needed.

Long time member, first time poster...

I have tires coming in for mine today...I went with the responsedge 255/55 for the rear ($159) and unfortunately went back to the OEM's for the front. I considered the responsedge 255/45 for the front but they were $200+ each from TireRack. The BFG KDWS's were $99 on special. Hopefully I can get the responsedges up front eventually, maybe they'll start making a size closer to stock or maybe [gasp] the actual stock size for the front. I am happy to have a little meatier look in the back though.

BTW, I love this site - I hope to have more posts soon and maybe some pics of the tires.

    Long live the Marauder.

I have these tires on another one of my cars and I love them. I never thought about the noise until tonight, darn you. They do make noise on freeway buttons and joints. Oh well. I really like them, They are stiff enough that I notice the lack of action by the shocks. I'm not sure about the rain performance because I haven't really pushed them in the rain. If they had the right size I wouldn't hesitate to put them on the MM. Cheers.

Finally have pics of the rear 255/55's

I finally got some pics so you guys can see what the 255/55's look like out back. So far (~1000mi) they have been great tires - wet or dry, great grip, very quiet! Goodyear should definitely make these in our OEM front size. Until then I've got the same BFG's up front.

    Question

Would this tire in 245/45R18 work for the FRONTS without tripping (TC/ABS)? I would be running 255/55/R18's for REARS. I've heard good things about these tires!

Tire Rack has quite a deal going. Check 1010 Tires - over $300 each. Seems if you want these, now is the time. I'm looking real hard at them myself.
