I've pulled 4.6 TEKSID blocks out of RWD Lincolns at my local salvage yard for $100.
The corresponding crank (forged) would have cost an extra $30 if I wanted it.

at 30 bucks a piece I would buy 3 forged cranks....

let me know if you have any for sale. I just bought an 04 WAP.

    No, sorry...no forged cranks.
I disassembled the top end, pulled the short block, then dropped out the crank because I didn't need it and the salvage yard wanted to charge me for it.
I only wanted the TEKSID block.
I left the crank, rods and pistons laying in the mud...

it seems online they are hard to come by, I will keep an eye out locally though. either the stock crank or you have to jump to a 4340 for a grand.

I have a block that threw a rod for parts, ill be taking it apart over the winter the heads look fine. and thats the main reason I don't want to reuse the stock crank, as good as people say they are.

    Thanks for the advice though.

I was wondering if the cranks from the 3v 4.6 explorers are compatible and forged.

I hear thats the best 4.6 block but dont want to have to convert a bunch of stuff. I would rather just worry about proper assembly this go around.
