The Tick Tick, And the Dealers Responce...

Well this is my second time for bringing my car to my dealer with the
tick tick under the drivers wheel well. This time armed with Dennis R's
TSB about the 03' Cobra. Well, they called me and told me it had a
different motor then the Cobra and that is has the engine from the Lincoln
Aviator and that the Aviator had that noise as well. "Its normal for the
valve train to sound this way" According to them. It said on the paper work
they gave back. "No problem; Normal valve train noise, Steel Block."
We have an aluminum block last time I checked, so im not to happy at this
time... Anyone know of any SVT dealers in Massachusetts, I wonder if they
would know what they were talking about....

    That's funny.

If I weren't looking for a new job I'd ask that dealer to hook me up with the ganj he's been smokin'.

Mommys Aviator doesn't tick. Oh yeah..it's an '04. Ya think the same changes were made to the '04 vator that were made to the '04 rauder....

    STEEL block?

Is there such a thing? I've only heard of iron and aluminum. Unless they are referring to an iron block that is an alloy...

Thanks MM03MOK... A quick question for you though. If I click on the
dealer and it has a Green check beside the SVT does that mean its an "SVT" dealer. Dumb question but I just wanted to be 100% sure.

That's how I interpreted it. Give 'em a call to be sure before you chase around the state. Good luck!

    Been there, Done that.

    Check my thread,

    http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forum...1&page=1&pp=15

    Just got it back today.

The problem is left side head has defects in the valve seats. This supposedly affects all 4.6 DOHC left side heads on engines made before 11/02.

Some have no problem, some sound like a diesel.

The head for the cobra mentioned in the TSB is the same head used on our motor. Same part #. If you need some more info e-mail me at rodneyc38@comcast.net and I'll give you the speffics and phone# of my service guy at the ford delear here. You can give the number to your service guy, he can call and get the info from another Ford guy.

    Hope this helps
    Rod.
