So I wonder if over the course of two days sitting at the shop something reset?

PATS uses a visual theft indicator located on top of the instrument panel. This
indicator will prove out for three seconds when the ignition switch is turned to ON
or START under normal operation. If there is a PATS problem, this indicator will
either flash rapidly or glow steadily (for more than three seconds) when the ignition
switch is turned to ON or START. PATS also "flashes" the theft indicator every two
seconds at ignition OFF to act as a visual theft deterrent.

When my PATS went out many years ago it caused a no crank situation and left me stranded. Disabled now..

Fuel pump is my vote. When it fails, it can stay failed for hours or days. Then, comes back to life, then fails again any time it wants.

This happened to me several years ago at about the same miles you have. Odly, my Brother has an 03 Marauder with only 5,000 miles on it. His failed last year also. Same symptoms.

Moral of the story, our fuel pumps have a limited life.

Well, it's been starting just fine since mid February, but last night it wouldn't start. I'm not hearing the fuel pump when I turn the key to the On position. So probably going to replace the fuel pump. I'm assuming I should get a Ford fuel pump?

I see that Tasca Ford lists the entire fuel pump assembly for $325.

Fuel Pump Assembly - Ford (3W1Z-9H307-AB)

Does anyone have a part number for just the fuel pump? Or should I get the entire unit?

    Thanks,
    Curt

If anyone has replaced the fuel pump themselves, I'd be interested in any information about the install. I have about a half tank of gas. Do I need to siphon more fuel out?

Can you send me a link to this fuel pump driver module? And where is it located on the car?

Like the others said Rock Auto. The pump itself is as cheap as 23 bucks, but if you never wanna do this again, I'd spring for the Delphi at $162.

    https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...387829&jsn=399

1/2 tank there will be gas everywhere, a gallon or two. siphon if you can or prepare to catch some gas.

    This takes about an hour....

    thoughts...
1.go in from the right rear tire area. clean off the area around the fuel pump hole with a cloth if there's a bunch of road grime/crud.
2.unbolt the right exhaust rear hanger and let it dangle. may want to strap it /pull it over for more room, I never did that.

--jack up the car from the frame you want the rear axle to dangle down not in the way.

3.you can hit the fuel pump shut off button and crank the engine if you want to relieve pressure. but with a dead pump might not have any in there to begin with. Get the fuel pump disconnector tool before you start. (I think it is 5/16" dia for a Ford. )

4.toughest part = unhooking the fuel tank pressure connector at the right front corner above the tank. ZERO clearance there.

5.make sure the hat gasket nibs are pulled through and the gasket is flush against the ring. On my Delphi it already was.
6.un bolt the old fuel pump, think it is 8mm, I wouldn't use any electric tools do it by hand.
7.when you start loosening the hat bolts, you'll see fuel start to leak out, get your drain pan under there,
8.new fuel pump has connector/harness for the fuel tank pressure sensor, plug/play just route the lines. I left some of the old line up there. Use a zip tie to secure the new line on the side of the tank.
9.make sure you don't bend the float arm on the way into the tank.
10.make sure if the tank float arm was secured for shipping with a twist tie or zip tie, take that off before the install.
    11.torque the hat ring evenly.
12.watch for leaks next fill up.

Rock Auto shows a bunch of fuel pump assemblies. Some that seem to be good are Airtex, Carter, Bosch and Delphi? Anyone have any suggestions? Or should I buy the Motorcraft from Tasca Ford for $325?

My advice is to avoid the Autobest. I installed that one and the sending unit was bad, so I got to swap fuel pumps twice. Heard Airtex is a short lived pump but no first hand experience. I got a Delphi, a whole 2,000 miles on it so far so good.

    Thanks for the insight.

Guess what. It started just fine a short time ago when I had it flat-bedded from the shop that was going to charge me $800 to replace the pump. Now that it's home, I think I'll do some quick looking for corrosion or anything else that might cause this intermittent issue. If I don't find anything, I'll replace the pump with a Delphi.
