    check engine light codes

I started the Marauder yesterday and the check engine light staid on all day. So I pulled the codes and cleared them.

P0316 Engine misfire detected on startup (first 1000 revs)
    P0308 Fault Cylinder H-Misfire Detected (Cylinder 8)

The codes did not re-apper today.

So what might be my problem and how should I correct the misfire?

    Thanks,
    Dustin

103,000 miles or so on the car now. Just did the plugs myself a few weeks ago. Got the Autolite Iridiums.

I did not replace the boots or the cops.

Check your COP connections (electrical harness plug into the COP).

If it doesn't happen again I wouldn't worry about it.

The P0000 just means the OBD monitors have not been run. Always pops up when codes are cleared from the pcm. That code will clear itself when all the monitors read "Ready" or "Test Complete"

    ?

I have a question, what is the best bang for your buck when it comes to OBD handheld meters. I want to buy one , but a good one. I would like to clear codes and kind of have it dummy proof, that is "tells you what the problem is and the code". Also real time run conditions, temp, rpm etc. And maybe up-datable for the newer coming years?

You talking big bucks. I'd get one at a FLAPS for under $100.00 and look up the codes on the internet.

I bought one from Sears. It reads and clears codes, it can even do a little datalogging. The best part about it was that it displays the code and what it is without having to reffer to the book. It was around $100 a few years ago.

    Thermostat stuck open.

...or the coolant temp sensor (or wiring) for the PCM is bad.

No it doesn't. Just shows you the code and give you the option to clear the code(s). He says in his best Marauderjack impression.....
