    A search 'overhead console removal' yielded the following....

    1) Disconnect battery ground cable. ( I did not do this step, did not want to possibly lose my DR PCM flash)
    2) Remove screw at the front of console.
    3) Open sunglass storage compartment and remove two screws.
    4) Disengage the six clip attachments by first pulling down on the front end of the overhead console. ( I used a flat flexible metal putty knife to get started and not damage the fabric) Remove the overhead console.
    * Disconnect the electrical connectors.
    5) To install, reverse the removal procedure.

    For vehicles with roof opening panel

    1) Disconnect battery ground cable.
    2) CAUTION: The overhead console bracket is supported by the headliner. Failure to follow the removal procedure will damage the headliner!!
    Support the headliner at the rear corner of the overhead console and pull down on that corner to remove the overhead console.
    * Disconnect the electrical connectors
    3) To, install, reverse the removal procedure.

    For those who need pictures ( Marty , TAF etc. ) !!! HAH. I can e-mail the PDF form that I got from Carfixer

    Ive always wanted to modify the overhead console to house about 2-3 gauges facing downward on a slight angle to the drivers seat.
    Might do that this winter.

    Nope, not a secret. All six buttons in my console now have back lighting! After 2 years now, everything seems good considering I can see the things. I used LED strips for ricer type cars from an auto parts store and some 1/8 inch thick plexyglass (that I painfully cut holes in for the buttons) to distribute the glow from the small green lights. I wired into the dimmer circuit that goes from the headlight switch to the compass. They dim as well with instrument panel lights. Alls good and now I can see!!! The following pic is kindof crapy, but it shows all the buttons lit up. I'll show ya on Saturday.

    finished lights

    Ok, thanks to Todd (with a much better camera) I have some better pics of the back lights for the console buttons. This was in daylight and they can be seen very well. Has anyone else got this to work out so far?

    I loved the backlighting. Gotta post a schematic of where you tapped into power for them at least, since you didn't take any pics of the new part as it was being made (before installation).
    Thanks to Darrin @ BC Automotive:

    Great Dan. Another Mod for my list. I am still planning on the grille work, but my freind has been busy. Thanks.

    Could you email or post how this is done!

    Wink

    torinodan - that is a great setup. So far the punching around in the dark to find my garage door opener button has been the most annoying aspect of my MM and you seem to have solved it perfectly: just enough light to find the buttons. Add my voice to the chorus of where did you tap in to do it. And the ricer lights, were they those neon glow type of interior light tubes or something else. I'm asking because, as I tell all new trial attorneys,"Your success in this business is limited only by the creativity of the people whose ideas you steal."
