    67 Mercury Cyclone

I've recently purchased a standard 67 Cyclone 289cu 2dr Hard top, and a friend of mine mentioned that he has a full carpet set for a Mustang, does anyone know if this will fit my vehicle as I've been told that the Mercury Cyclone has certain features the same as the Ford Mustang.

    Cheers

Suspension parts like control arms are the same. Alot of parts from a 66-67 Fairlane will interchange, but not all. BTW, a true Cyclone would have a 4v 390. My Pop's has a '66 2dr 289 Comet Capri.

In 1967, I bought a new 1966 Cyclone convert, 289/2v, bucket seats/console with auto shift. It was a leftover sitting in the parking lot where I worked; a Ford parts depot in Teterboro, NJ.

There were three of them sitting side by side; I bought the silver/blue model.

(I think it was the GT that came with the bigger engines.)

Kinda been out of the loop for a bit while my car projects just sit, but I believe the 390 Fairlanes were badged GT & GTA. Not completely sure, as was most interested in 63-65 Fairlanes & '65 Comets.

No, not the carpet set. Floor pan is different.
Engine, trans, accessories and some suspension/brake parts interchange between like yeared Fairlane, Comet, Cougar and Mustangs. Not much sheet metal or interior though.
A Fairlane floor is the same as the Comet, but not a Mustang or Cougar.

I've had many 390 Fairlanes that were not GT.

GT/GTA badges would be on a 289 or 390 car - if it were optioned as a GT, or GTA with an automatic transmission.

I have owned both 289 and 390 powered Cyclones.
The Cyclone package was not engine specific.
Interchange gets dicey with drive shaft, leaf springs, also rear end and steering center link widths.
Most all the other brake, steering and suspension parts will swap though, as you said.

This is my most memorized subject - from age 14 to 35 I owned, hot rodded and worked on hundreds of 64-70 Blue Oval products

In 1968, I bought a new 1968 Cyclone GT fastback, 4 sp, 302/4v, which, I think was a one engine jump from the standard 302/2v.

One of my favorite personal cars.

I did a few mods to that car:

Added 3:50 rear, 428CJ ram air hoodscoop/air cleaner/vacuum door and hood tape stripe

Keystone Classis wheels/Goodyear Polyglas raised white letter tires; installed the shorter Mustang gearshift

Removed (with a hairdryer) the lower "Mustang like" tape stripe from the front to rear wheelwells

Removed the 68 chrome sideview mirrors; installed 69 "teardrop" mirrors; removed the smog pump and tubing

Installed hoodlocking pins; removed (filled in and painted) the emblem at the peak of the hood

Added factory tach; installed a set of Stewart Warner gauges along the dash (similar, but not as nice, as the 70 Cyclone GT)

    Added factory am/fm stereo/four speakers

The year after (1969), bought my 64 Galaxie convert for my wife. I still have the Galaxie (and the wife), but the Cyclone's long gone (1972).

My top three personal cars: #2, the Galaxie, #3, the Cyclone GT, and #1, 1965 Vette roadster

I use Image Shack. Others use photobucket. I think there are other options also.

Very cool. Interesting your Vette is #1
I had many 68-69 Torino's from 302/C4 to 428SCJ/4 spd cars. Never into body mods, I was changing engines, heads, cams, intakes etc and terrorizing the neighborhood

    What can I say.

22 years old, single, new Vette, and I had hair.

    (But, someone stole my hubcaps.)

In '66 and '67, Cyclones had 289s and Cyclone GTs had 390s.

You could order a Comet with a 390 but it wasn't the hi-po version and didn't have the sporty trim the Cyclones got.
