    Proud new owner

Just wanted to say hello and I am glad I found this group. So much helpful info.

I am not a "car-guy", but appreciate the glory of the mm. Never had a car like it. I have many friends who do speak the language and will rely on them as well as this group.

I have an 04 in show condition with 48k. Looking at 2 trophies won from shows attended by previous original owner. I hope to bring it to a show in the future.

Bought last week from dealer. While I have many questions, right now number 1 is - I have only one key and a fob, and do not have the code for the keyless door pad entry. Manual says it is on a sticker on the computer - is that the PCM mentioned in other posts? Is it easily accessible?

My other option is contact the previous owner, but I have not found his number yet. Then there is the dealer, who seemed too busy to hook it up to their system to retrieve the code - I hear it is around $100 to do so.

    I'll have more questions later!

    Thanks!

    Scott

code is on the DDM (driver door module) which means removing the driver side doorpanel. It also is usually on the trunk deck on or by a trunk hinge. white sticker.
Congrats on purchase..post some pics up. A second key with the chip for the
PATS system is needed or it wont start car..Dealer can do it but I hear it's $100//some key shops can do it.

Dealer or Locksmith can make n program the key. It takes 2 keys to program a third or more. Once You have 2 keys cut n programmed, You only need to cut the 3+ and You'll be able to program the rest Yourself. I have like 5 keys, 1 is hidden on the car from previous incident of losing mine far from home.

As for the key fob, buy the same part # one that you currently own

I've found new ones on eBay for pretty cheap

YouTube has a video how to program the fob, it take 30 or 60 seconds to program the key fobs to your car

Congrats on the purchase. What colors did you get?

+1 for DDM inside panel. Its like 5 screws to take it off and then lift up BUT to lift the switch panel lift from the FRONT, once you break that clip at the back its all over. And pull from the top side of the little triangle piece that covers the mirrors on the inside. Ps you might find stickers hidden inside your manual on a white sheet that the PO didn't use.

    Cool Thanks for the welcome

Thanks for the replies - I will let you know how I make out with the key.

I am trying to post a pic - hope it comes through! She is soo pretty! Has been in a couple of Carlisle shows - got 3rd in All Ford National June 2011.

Has a nice Kenwood navigation/phone/stereo system, wired for rear-view camera. New headers and manifolds and muffler - will need to learn about the specifics!

Oh, and today the check engine light came on. Hoping it is a loose gas cap and will correct itself after 3 drives as per the manual.

Oh, and I have the leather jacket!!

Out for a quick 9 holes!

    Welcome to the forum!

Tell us more about the dealer - Ford/Lincoln dealer? If so, they should have provided the extra key, fob and door code for free. If not, go right back and punch them in the head until they do! Otherwise, you’re better off doing everything on your own.

I bought an extra Mercury key blank and fob off of eBay. Local Ace Hardware cut the key and the dealer stated the fob wasn’t compatible with my car. Local Ford dealer charged $56 for a replacement fob and $95 to program both the new key and fob. They installed my front license plate bracket and freed up a frozen airbox nut for free - they were tickled to have the car on their premises!

I bought my car from the 2nd owner back in March - 41k miles at present. The sale came with one key, fob and valet key. Seller stated that was all he received when he bought it from the original owner back in 2006. He did give me the keypad combination he had written down.

Was hoping to get a reproduction dealer window sticker from a member here but he seems to have fallen off of the face of the earth. I placed an order with him, we communicated once, no money was exchanged and that was the end of it - hoping he’s doing allright and I just got lost in the shuffle.

A wealth good info and experience on this site and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Look on the driver's side trunk hinge......my code was there in plain view so I removed the sticker and put it on the inside edge of that hinge!!

True here. Owner’s Interactive Experience on DVD is missing - still hoping to find a copy.
