Did You Ever Get This Noise ?

Love the Marauder. Still going strong but the other day an intermittent noise is driving me nuts. Think of a high pitched smoke detector going off and this is what is happening in my dash. If I shut the automatic climate control off its stops. Sometimes when its off for a while it starts again so when I put Climate Control on again it stops. Sometimes a steady loud shrill other times intermittent. I notice while I'm accelerating it goes away and when I let up on the gas it comes back. Any thoughts ? Not sure if it's under the driver's side dash or not since have to have the engine running to hear it. Doesn't appear to be under the hood. Maybe a vacuum leak of some kind ? Was wondering if anyone ever had this happen ?

Sounds like a vacuum leak. The climate control head in the dash has o-rings that go bad. About an hour job to fix. That may be the problem.

I had this happen on my 2000 Grand Marquis a while back. If was a vacuum diaphragm actuator in the HVAC unit. Wasn't hard to change.

Thanks Mike and John. Kind of thought it was that especially since it doesn't do it so much while the pedal is down but as soon as I back off its very noticeable. Went to my mechanic this morning and he said sounded like a vacuum leak too. Only stopped by for him to listen to it and will take it in next week but I'll mention your suggestions. Thanks again. Have a great Labor Day weekend guys.
