    That sucks! I'm assuming it was an aftermarket balancer? Did you collect the balancer and was the bolt and piece of crank still there?

    It was a ATI damper,double keyway,made for mod motor.There is a pulley on the front of it for the supercharger.None of the bolts came loose.It broke inside of the front cover on the other side of the bottom sprocket.

    I've heard that running a double key in leu of a single can be the difference of a spun balancer vs a busted crank snout. Is this a first for you?

    The crank was the only part of the shortblock we did not change last year.It was a Lunitti crank that was 5 years old with at least 300 runs on it.On a higher h.p. engine you have to have a double key on the crank for drag racing to keep it from having a spun balancer.For a street car it could be different.Yes, it was a first for me.
