High mileage transmission flush or not?

My Marauder has 162000 miles. I bought at around 157k. I know little about history of the car.

Should I do a flush? I have read that this is not good for a high mileage transmission. Or just a drain and filter change?

I am probably opening a big can of opinions but I am leaning towards the drain and refill which I can do myself. Would also like to install a drain plug if any one can post a link that would help me.

No shifting problems. I have a tune and car shifts very firm.

    Thanks!

If a transmission fails shortly after a fluid change, then it was on its last legs anyway.

If your fluid is not dark brown/burnt/smelly, you should be fine with a complete fluid exchange, but likewise doing a couple of drain & fills over a short time will be fine as well. Only need to change the filter the first time.

As for drain plugs, either get the Dorman pan for $25, or the Mag-Hytec or Art Carr pan for way more money. Or buy the $9.00 B&M universal plug and install it yourself on your existing pan. Just needs a ½" hole.

I've flushed a lot of transmissions with no failures. I unhook one of the trans cooler lines and run the car till the fluid starts spitting. Refill and repeat till the fluid comes out clean.
You "feel" the difference because you want to "feel" the difference. Since you just spent money on the upgrade you "have" to feel the difference

I'm looking to eliminate the double pump process I have to follow right now to get the pedal hard

I do this type of flush as well. I changed the filter on the FIRST fluid exchange but not after that. Mercon V has friction modifier and needs to be changed. If it isn't burnt or really dark I'd go for it. These transmissions are pretty beefy.

I dropped the pan and replaced the filter on my first Marauder at 150k miles, had the lollipop still inside. Current owner is still driving it without issue getting close to 180k.
