    Exclamation Front spring busted

Dropped off the junk # Hytech
Auto in Rockford for struts and alignment.
Turns out I need springs due one is broken.
I couldn't tell at all ! Drove good since I got new tires and
    Ball joints.
I remember hearing about front springs being suspect
    To breakage.
My gal drives the rig occasionally, maybe she recalls
    An incident .
Any one else have to replace the front springs ?

    The beat goes on !

The owner just called back and said the upper strut mounts are Rusty .
He wanted to go with a strut assembly to avoid using
    The Rusty parts.
Unfortunately I waited too long to get it done and no longer have return privileges on my order.

I just replaced mine. Broken as well at the bottom. Sounds like an assembly is your best way to go.

If I had a do over , I would be done at a few hundred dollars less.
It was not my brightest moment.

What complete assembly did you use?

My grand marquis makes a weird noise up front, car has a slight lean to that side. I suspected worn steering/suspension but wouldn't be surprised if the spring is broken as well.

I had the bottom coil break off of both front springs quite a few years ago, I think with less than 100k on the clock. I had a shop replace them, but I think they used the wrong springs because the front has been a bit too high ever since. Still not sure about optimum replacements to restore proper ride height, so saving up for the Ridetech coilover kit through ADTR. Not the most cost effective route, but probably the best route.

    springs

Ford has experienced broken springs for years. The Taurus was the worst we ever encountered. Many, many of them.

Keep in mind when I say "not cost effective", the kit is currently $765, and the SPC alignment bolt kit for $70 will be needed with it, too, if you want to adjust the coilover kit to lower the front. Should totally be worth it, though, if you can fit it into your budget.
