You're going to get opinions in both camps that will tell you why one is better than the other. I'd go with the KYB's myself if I didn't like the OEM's, which I do.
I went KYB because I wanted to stick with a mono-tube shock (the Monroe is twin-tube). The KYB fronts are great. The KBY rears felt softer to me than they should have. It added some rear end wiggle during quick lane changes. It was cured with Addco sway bars. Now I think it is just right. The softer read shock with heavier sway bars maintains great handling while slightly improving ride comfort.
