    CVPI Driveshaft

Does anyone know what the color bands on the driveshaft mean?
    Not real important just curious.

Is it correct that both the MM and the CVPI share the same type drive shaft?

Thanks for the info, the above link was helpful.
From what I see, although the MM and CVPI shafts will interchange, the
CVPI shaft is a metal matrix composite good to 150 mph which means it
actually is better than what came in the MM.

^^^ That is true but the CVPIs only got the MMX driveshaft for a year or two. The rest of the CVPIs got the regular aluminum driveshaft which IIRC is the same as MM.
I want to say '99-'01 CVPIs got the MMX driveshaft, sometime around then.
If you go to CVN they will know for sure.

Same size and design, but all are not the same material. Some of the CVPIs were fitted with metal matrix driveshafts, which were service rated for higher speeds, these are superior to the OEM Marauder units if you're going to run at higher speeds, or with 4.10 gears (based on some folk's recommendations).

I just put one in my car from a 2000 CVPI. There are no colored bands on the new one like the Marauder driveshaft. The driveshaft did have "POLICE" spray painted on it. It also doesn't have the harmonic balancer on the yoke like the Marauder driveshaft. And it's way lighter. I was also wondering what the colored bands meant.

I picked one up yesterday from a 2000 cvpi has the green and pink band, has the word POLICE stamped in it and no dampner. Looks like a cheap upgrade.

I got mine at Pick n Pull for 22.61 yesterday, cheap, that's why I got it.
That particular yard moves a lot of cars, I will be grabbing all I can to pass
    along.

    Good stuff!

Yeah, if you find more, I'm interested, and I'll pay you more than $ 22.61 !
