Cobra crate motor in MM

Maybe I'm behind here but as anyone seen the article in May MM & FF magazine. Al Lynch had Paul's High Performance put a Cobra crate motor in a MM. Of interest is the stock dyno's reported at the wheels are 228 HP and 237 torque and 1/4 mile of 15.63 at 92. After crate 415 HP and 425 torque with 1/4 of 12.5 at 108. Stock MM was brand new so therefor the low hp and torque. Interesting article with the extra fuel pump, frame and control arm mods. 415 HP out of a Cobra motor at the wheels seems high because the 2003 Cobra is advertised at 390 hp if I am correct. Just food for thought. He did leave the car stock looking which to just adds to the stealthness of the bad boy..

Hell no. The 03 Cobra motors are substantially underrated from the factory. Un-cork the exhaust and throw a cold air kit on a 03 cobra and you're instantly putting 390 to the rear wheels, let alone at the crank. 415hp is right on the money...

I read the article, it's a great read...

I pointed this out in another post, but I think it will be more appropriate here, but I had worked this swap out on paper a while ago, and it just seems like Paul's made the swap over complicated. There is no reason to have to integrate the cobra harness, the marauder ECM simply needs to be chipped to accomodate all the extra airflow into the identically sized engine, and of course calibrated for a new Mass air meter. Because the air inlet exits on the other side, either a custom snaky air inlet would have to be made to come over to the driver side of the car, or else the maf sensor wiring would have to be extended a little bit. Other than that, the electronics side of things should have been fine. As for cutting that pretty aluminum crossmember to accomodate the cobra oil pan? Why would you want to do that and compromise the structural integrity of the car. wouldnt it make more sense to swap in the marauder oilpan and pickup and leave the crossmember stock? I also would not have gone with an AOD, but simply a built 470Rw (I could be mistaken here as I dont know much about ford transmissions, but I understand that the 470Rw is a much better starting point than AOD).
Just some thoughts to make it easier to anyone else who might attempt it in the future.
P.S. I figured out a way to get a lightning engine to almost sort of want to pretend to clear a stock vic hood. hmmmm interesting

I read it. Good article, and another approach.

Al Lynch the owner has two Marauders it says. Anybody know if he's registered here?

Kind of scary, when thinking of the scale. Makes one think that maybe it'd be a good idea to do some introspection and think about what each of us needs to do to build a solid community, analyze what it is we're all honestly looking for by belonging to this community.

I picked this mag up yesterday and read that story. This makes no sense to me at all! Why would you anyone go to this extream for these results? The mod's talked of here (Blowers) and so on would produce nearly the same results for far less money!

They did not say how much this "Very cool" swap cost but at "100's of hours" labor and the custom parts plus the price of admission of crate motor had to put the total ticket around $30,000.00 +

A cool deal..... but why?
