Question Where to buy K&N FIPK (air intake kit - K&N #57-2563)

Hey folks. Anyone know where the cheapest place is to order the 57 series K&N cold air kit? (K&N #57-2563)? And ... who can get it here this week (by Friday) without charging me an arm and a leg for shipping???

Wes (Innovative Interceptors) might be able to get it for you for a good price and he has fast shipping as well. I'd PM him! He's a vendor on this site.

Why not get a JLT with a bigger filter for less money and support a site vendor?

    I considered this, but:

    1) Don't want it to rub my hoodliner.

    2) Seems like K&N replacement filters would be easier to find (if needed).

    3) K&N reports 17.2 hp gain. JLT reports 10-12 hp gain. 5hp-7hp is a whole other mod (pulleys, spacer, etc.).

    4) Looks like it would be take up precious elbow room for other wrench turning.

    5) The K&N pipe looks like a straight (less restrictive) intake pipe.

I could be persuaded if those objections were addressed. Especially to order one with a heat shield and in Silver Birch.

The JLT pipe, which is what I have, is a lot shorter than the K&N tube since the filter is much bigger than the K&N. So there is less travel for the air to flow into the TB.

From what I have read the K&N #57 and the JLT are nearly the same(save for price). K&N #63 claims upwards of 17hp gain though...

I debunked the K&N 17 HP versus other people's 12 HP gain. Search this forum for '#2 Progress Report' to read all about it. They actually make the same HP.
I bought K&N because I think it looks so much better.

    1) A felt furniture bumper cures that.

    2) The JLT filter is a standard size and readily available from JLT and/or from K&N. Larger filer area means less resistance to flow and better filtration.

    3) Fast car debunked this. the k&n claim is at the widest spread of HP gain while the JLT measures the diff at peak HP. Upon a peak at a dyno graph, the JLT actually makes power all the way across the band.

    4) When we did line locks, we had to remove Blackmobile's K&N and we did NOT have to remove my JLT.

    5) The JLT's larger pipe actually stores a section of air for a quicker throttle response.

JLT is available in you choice of color.

Try getting help from K&N, but then give Tucker a call. JLT is there for us.

JLT is a site vendor, thus help keeping the lights on here. K&N is not.

If you DO go k&n, call DR or Lidio and keep in the family.

I appreciate the detailed response. I'm reconsidering the JLT. I was going to purchase this week before I traveled to a family renunion this weekend. That trip has been cancelled, giving me a little more time to decide.

just how does it do this, and where does it 'store' the air?

Looks like there's been a serious splintering. I never thought it'd be possible for this to happen to a group of owners of a car model that sold no more than 14000 copies over 2 model years. Kind of scary, when thinking of the scale. Makes one think that maybe it'd be a good idea to do some introspection and think about what each of us needs to do to build a solid community, analyze what it is we're all honestly looking for by belonging to this community.
