    Advice Requested / Garage Heater

I would like to ask everyone's advice. I've recently moved and the new house has a garage that is not heated (not yet). I like to work on my cars myself, however with the freezing winter temperatures, it can be difficult. Does anyone have any recommendations on any portable heaters they used that did a good job on heating an area inside a garage? Thank you in advance.

I use on of these. They put out lots of heat, but are noisy. Also they may put out some CO. Have never checked CO levels, but it would be a good idea using a CO detector if you use it a lot. Also I run pump diesel through it as today's diesel is nearly as pure and sulfur free as is kerosene. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...u?cm_vc=-10005

I went and bought a big Maxx 80000 BTU garage heater from Mills Fleet Farm it was about $400 but my garage was set up with gas into it already somebody had a heater in there before I moved in but I really like it turn it on 15 minutes it's nice and toasty warm in there so that's probably not a whole lot of help

I had many portables over the years and thought they all sucked. I went with a light commercial hanging natural gas type. Mid 80’s in less than 30 minutes with no insulation any January day in Chicago.

It heats up so fast that I only use it when needed.

^^^^^^^this. If you have gas available or set a 100 gallon lp tank and go with a hanging heater. Reznor, Modine, Sterling are some names. They are safer plus they are up out of the way and won't kill you with fumes. Plus they heat up garages quickly. A 40-60k btu is more than plenty for a residential garage.

Hey option b could be a heatpump (minisplit). More money runs on electricity but you'd have a/c too. Who doesn't like a/c?

Yes, this is a good unit. Puts out a lot of heat for the price.
