Cool MM Dreamer may exit closet (Not THAT way). Seeks divine guidance.

Howdy, and let me say this is a great site. Lots of good info (been lurking and studying a lot), with helpful, knowledgable folks, and a relative absence of jerk-like posts. Nice work, Logan.

    Can I play, too?

I have been reading many (most?) of the posts regarding pros/cons/300A vs 300B, etc. etc (including the famous would you buy a MM again? http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forum...?threadid=3046 )

and think I might just have to get one of these puppies, or Big Dogs, as it were.

The thing is this: I need a car to travel LOTS of miles safely and comfortably (I'm not very small, either), available at a good price, but without the penalty of a frugal (read: dull) set of wheels.

I had to sell my Cobra Vert a couple of years ago, and I still need counselling for that loss .

One local dealer has 6 300A's that I think could be had at a fair price. Another local has one blue and two silvers, and is offering the blue at 24,995 (with every rebate, discount in the world, not all of which I am eligible for).

So, I may be off to grab one of these things.

Any divine guidance or words of wisdom are appreciated. Wish me luck.

    (edited for stupid spelling errors)

    EasyRhino,
In my not so humble opinion, there is NOTHING else out there to even concider. The car eats highway miles for breakfast, twistys for lunch, Gas for a light dinner, and Rice Pudding for dessert.

If you can get a NEW one for less then $26K, I wouldn't even wait for the wifes aprovell (yeah, right) That would be a deal of the year.

ARE YOU TRYING TO GET ME KILLED???? Buying a car without the wife's approval ?

Seriously, I did a detailed search of available platforms and had decided that I would buy a CV or GM, which kind of bummed me out, but it just seemed like the right thing to do. Kind of bummed the wife out, too. Then I found a black on black CV LX Sport and that was okay, but she didn't like the way it looked.

Then it gets good: I found the blue MM and she liked it okay (particulary with the good price), but she didn't like the color combo, and asked "what about Black?'" (Thank you, Lord).

Then I said, You know that the MM has my old Cobra engine in it (close enough for her, anyway).

Last night she says, "I think you should just get one."

I think I played that pretty well, don't you?

Go for it! I was about to suggest Sarge's old ride. Then I saw your price for the blue. Wow! Even if you only qualify for some of the rebates, it sounds like a sweet deal.

I was hoping that I could get the job as the board villiage idiot. Are you saying it's taken???

Yeah, I think it's a ton of car for the money (well, technically 2.1 tons).

It fits both my frugal side (like the "Millionare Next Door" book philosophy), my "need for speed" side (we're going vertical, Mav), and my backside.

Yes....I'm afraid that is true...however, RF does need a "side-kick".
And with his plan to "dumb-down the World" for our posterity...you could be useful.

    Compliment or Complaint????

<It's so hard to tell on the internet>

Wow, all the welcoming replies. I'm truly touched <sniff, sniff>

Anyway, I'll be test drving a black 300A this afternoon, and sniffing butts with a local dealer with whom I have no experience. This should be intersting.

Naw, I'm going to let this one stew a bit. I'm going to wait until she starts prodding me: "Honey, are you going to buy that car, or not???" .

Besides, I'm going to slowly skin the dealer for maximum price advantage - much more painful. The incentives don't run out for a month, the dealer has 5 or 6 300A's left over.

I've been told that I am aggravating enough to piss off the Pope. Why not use that skill from time to time?

I love it when a plan comes together.
