Yep, a two hours trip to Grand Rapids is a lot different than 20 minutes to the east side of Detroit but since the car will be down for a while it may not matter

no butthurt here, 157 miles is not area, its distance, area would be detroit and surrounding suburbs. GR is not a suburb of Detroit. I have no issues whatsoever with Curless shop.

    Source for your calculations?

I took my car to Lidio for the motor, I had my trans done in Indiana, I picked up parts from Marty in Georgia (day trip, down and back in one day), distance is only relevant to the one asking, he said area, not within _____ miles.

He can take it to Lidio, who is more in tune with Hellcats right now, as those are a good money maker for him, he doesn't return calls until late in the day, and has a packed schedule, and you may be waiting 6 months for a motor and a tune.

Chris, while further away (depending on what side of the city the OP lives in), will return calls, will answer the phone during the day, is quite familiar with marauders as he has one and has worked on several, and....will do the work asked of him on your car, as opposed to (my guys didn't want to do that) response you may get from the above listed shop.

Life is about choices..... and, there are other smaller shops that could possibly accommodate the OP, it's not clear if he is looking for a built motor, forced induction, a N/A stock motor etc., all of those can be a deciding factor in where you go, as well as budget.

Stop making a mountain out of a molehill, the 2 above shops are the ones that most on this board are familiar with in that area, and, are familiar with Marauders. Are there others, probably, are the closer, maybe, don't have the OP's coordinates to pinpoint a location.

    Is it a full moon?
I LOVE Jerry's bar, it's my kinda place...........

Did somebody piss in your cheerios? JFC, you made it a mountain. Nobody knows what the OP is after, except the OP. and why didn't you include the shop that rebuilt Jerry's motor on the black car. Order a pizza in detroit and see if they will deliver it to Grand Rapids. maybe the OP doesn't have a trailer or want to pay to tow it. I don't care if you went thru 5 states for parts for your car. It sits in the garage, with you wanting to sell it. You work for the city or county, is Columbus in your jurisdiction? Area ..distance, call it what you want. maybe we shoud add some shops in California as potential sources. I've personally arranged over 8000 truck shipments of machinery, molds, presses, machinery etc. for automotive, government, defense. aerospace manufacturers. I know a thing or two about area and distances

No but I apparently pissed in yours.

The shop that did Jerry’s black Car didn’t rebuild it, he provided a short block.

My car is for sale and sitting in the garage.

The parts chase was simply to say what is relevant to one, is not relevant to another.

I have arrest powers in the state of Ohio and have picked up warrant transfers from many states, distance is all relevant.

You know shipping and receiving, and..........?

Just think, all this $h!t started with a simple question and answer.

no the **** started when you said driving to Grand Rapids is closer than Georgia. No where in the prior posts was GA brought up. You brought it up. I don't know shipping and receiving. I know how to coordinate a shipment with someone's million dollar machine tool on it that is oversized and overweight and all the permits and regulations along the route and to arrive on time for the $500 + an hour rigger to unload it, but that was in my past...Now i fit items .0001 in tolerances with injection molds. I was specifically talking about Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties.

I’ll answer, only because you said I would..

I did bring up the Georgia connection, because..... it shows that distance doesn’t matter if it’s a shop you trust.

If you can coordinate the delivery and set up of that equipment, then you know shipping and receiving, and distance as well as costs.

I don’t work in the industry that you work in, so I don’t know anything about that field, but prior to my current job, I held ASE master tech certs, so I know a little bit about cars, even though my certs have expired.

I don’t need the last word, but I’m not afraid to speak my mind.

Then Alternative Automotive would be the closest choice depending on the type
Of work that you want done.

Lidio would have the best idea on pricing, as he owns the business. You’ll need to call and leave a message, he will get back to you. Alternatively, you could just stop in and speak with him.

Darren, all the bs aside, we can just agree that our own definition of Detroit area is different in this case. I too would pick Curless shop over Lidio for the time factor alone and that he is accessible, 2 different shops, Lidio doesn't do small little bolt on jobs anymore ( a rebuild is not classed as this) like put on 2 magnaflows or a set of shocks. He is more into performance stuff at this time.

We could go back and forth all day about I can do this and you can do that. It makes no difference what we can do. They are skills learned and earned.

Your point of myself choosing GA for instance is valid, One chooses a place they feel they trust and will get what they want out of it. To go back to the very first intent of my post was that GR was xxx miles away in case the OP had no idea who Curless was. it was merely to provide information that you and I and most members take for granted. Cause we know all bout Chris's shop and the person behind it. It was not to start a debate over "area".

The OP has listed his preference of locations and advise was given.
