I assumed there was a difference in a 3:55 and 4:10 "tune". Thought maybe there were some tweaks. Just a ratio change in the tuner itself.

Going to do a tune up. New plugs, fuel filter and clean the MAF. Car sits quite a bit and Marty recommended I start there.

I've had the car for over two years, have put 5000 miles on it and have never done a tune up so I don't know the complete history of the car. I do have the Carfax. Car has 161,000 mi. Should have thought of that sooner.

We did. It's all good. No complaints from me just trying to figure it out. Marty has some of the best customer service skills I've ever dealt with. Just wish his shop was closer.

It is amazing, especially considering he was a NY lawyer.

There is a difference, more so with shift points, converter lockup schedule and a couple of other things between 3.55 to 4.10 tunes. The car should have came with 4.10, as many of us have said it along with a tune it's the best two mods to really wake the car up.

Hopefully the tune up solves your issue, I went from 14.8x range stock to 14.35 with just a CAI, 1 stage colder plugs, muffler change and a tune on 3.55 gears.

Been watching your Youtube vids - interesting despite the timeline. I’m looking at the 4:10 set, CAI, tune but I’m torn about upgrading the TC stall. Just floated this question through the PI website. 3600 stall keeps jumping out at me for some reason. Used a PI converter - transgo shift kit on my previous ’98 GT.

I went with a PI 3500 stall with 3.55 gears only because I got a great offer on the converter that I couldn't pass up. Took more gas to get off the line around town unless I was loading the converter up above 2500 rpms but it pulled well once it got moving and took some heavy tune tweaking to get it dialed in. I stayed 3.55 gears for a long time since I daily drove it for years and did 4.10 once I got another car. Honestly, if you are considering a converter, go with a Circle D unit and stick with 2800-3200 range or talk to the tuner who you get a tune from. I feel 3500 is okay street wise IF the car has more than 300rwhp, anything less and its sluggish around town.

Thanks for this. My ’98 TQ peaked at 3500 stock and a 2800 TC (2200 stock?) was recommended - loved it (many other bolt on mods too). Reading where the TC stall should be 500-700 below Peak Torque - around 4250 on our cars stock? I’m consulting as many people as possible - thanks for the tips!

To a point. I don’t think I would want a 6,500 stall on mine if they were to build it LOL
