Thoughts on MT ET Street R 305/45R18 or Nitto NT05R

Good afternoon. I'm going to purchase a set of drag radial to put on my widened rears. I was going to get 305/45R18 MT ET S/S but they don't make the S/S in that size anymore. It seems they only offer this size in the R series. I'm going to daily with these tires so I'm curious if anyone has ran the R series on the street. They don't look even remotely street friendly. Before anyone chastises me for daily driving on drag radials, I've made up my mind that I'm doing it so just looking for suggestions from people that are or have ran them on the street. The other option i'm looking at is the Nitto NT05R. Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm looking to eliminate the double pump process I have to follow right now to get the pedal hard

Guys, I don’t want this to turn into a debate on street use of drag radials. Please stay on topic.

I ran MT drag radials in the rain a few times. Seemed to track well under 60 mph when new. I kept 35 psi in them for road use. Corners were fine, for me. Obviously, you need to adjust your habits knowing what rubber you are rolling on. I never felt out of control with them. At about 2/3 tread, the feeling of security changed on damp or wet roads. They were then only for rides to the track, race, drive home. No more damp service.

I won’t be driving in the rain unless I get caught in in while out. Thanks for feedback!

I have MT DR's on my DTR, I only got caught in a sprinkle once with them, it was a definite concern, I couldn't get anything to stick like the MT's on the street. I give them my approval, but it is a hard trigger to pull, $350 per tire, for already bald tires....lol

Got the NT05R’s. What are you guys running for psi daily vs. drag strip?

I have the ET Street R’s on my mustang and I’ve been driving on the street with them for a few days and they seem fine. I’m running low tire pressure though. 12psi

I ran M/T Sportsman S/R 30x12 (35psi) for 3 years daily driven April through November with Zero problems rain or shine. Musclemerc has them now.

Drive them using common sense = no issue. In rain on interstate drop speed from 75 to 60, flash flood rain on I65 south of Indy on way to Looseville drop to 45/50, corner conservatively in rain - not like in rally race. No issues.

Going to get another set for new rims when I get them, liked them a lot.

Get what you want & have fun, OP!

I believe the M/T S/R is more DD friendly than the S/S.
