    aftermarket fuel pump recommendations?

    Hello:

When I got this MM it was being parted out, I didn't know if it would even run, had a dead fuel pump 131K on the car, so I ordered a cheapo fuel pump from RA. "BestAuto". might have a defective sending unit, or I'm getting binding from the float arm, I'll check this weekend. I regret going cheap on this item! (Or I botched the install, which would be the 9,000th time I've messed up a simple job.)

    BOSCH
    CARTER
    DELPHI

    any preferences from this list?

AIRTEX - multiple warnings about this type
SPECTRA - any good? looks popular on RA

    thanks

    I'd go with:

    Airtex

    Carter

    Bosch

    Delphi

    Motorcraft

    Exclamation

    fastblackmerc - I'd go with:

    Airtex

Unless Airtex has improved their quality (from previous experiences a few years ago as a service advisor), the ONLY reason that it should be considered would be that you weren't going to drive it much and planned on selling the vehicle within a month or two.

The price (cheapest) reflected the quality and longevity.

The bitterness of poor quality (and multiple warranty replacements) lingers long after the sweetness of low co$t is forgotten.
