I've heard good things about those tires with regards to traction and 'stiffness' etc, but have heard they tend to be a bit noisy. Let us know how they run in the dry, etc

Turns out TireRack has a warehouse here in GA, I ordered them Monday morning and they arrived Tuesday morning!
I'll probably have to wait until Friday to get them mounted. I'll let you guys know how it goes, pics, etc.

I would definitely use them if the 255/55/18 wouldn't screw up the speedometer. I paid too much for this car to have a ghetto messed up speedometer -- I leave that for my old cars! One day when I have a tuner...

Luckily the difference in diameter is only about 0.43" since the aspect ratio isn't changing. Which means the car will raise half of that (~0.21") in the rear and fill the other half in the wheelwells. Overall you're looking at about 694 revs/mile with the Responsedge and 705 revs/mile with the BFG's. So you're looking at a 1.56% difference in your speedometer reading (slower than actual speed). No big deal there.

Not a big deal I guess, it always bugs me when I know the speedo is not right though, that is closer than I thought though. HMMMMMM. Are those goodyears SUV tires like the Kumhos or really designed for a passenger car?

What's funny is by the time you wear down about 7/32 of tread on the Responsedge you will almost have the equivalent diameter of a new OEM BFG...and the Responedge will probably still outlast it.....
No, I don't work for Goodyear!

You know what, I would totally get them, but I don't want mixed and matched tires -- that can cause dangerous situations when one set resists hydroplaning better or one set gives up traction first.
****e! I really want to get rid of the god awful KDWs and almost thought I had an answer. I guess I could run 255/55s on all 4 .... hmmm...

If you have the money, a Responsedge 255/45-18 up front would work, that's what my original plan was but the fronts were more than twice as much as the OEM BFG. I did the math on those, we would keep the raked look and shouldn't trip the ABS light. Overall car height would raise about 0.3" (not bad) and have a little more rubber tucked in the fenders.

Are you kidding me? Uh no. A barge this massive can certainly use the rubber on the road.Do you plan on going four wheeling?

I was talking about the aspect ratio, not running 255's up front.

I have the KDW2s for 30,000 miles now and they really are wearing great. Did the Carfixers wheel alignment recommendation and its been right on the money. No inside front tread wear like original specs caused. I run at 36 psi pressure. Like driving with duck tape on the tires. Really stick good but I've noticed they sound like snow tires as they age, that is, noisy. Probably because of the cut of the tread which is a cross cut. Don't know if I would get again only because I prefer a quiet tire but so far the wear has been awesome. Plenty of tread still left. Expect at least 50K or more at the rate I'm going.
I have these tires on another one of my cars and I love them. I never thought about the noise until tonight, darn you. They do make noise on freeway buttons and joints. Oh well. I really like them, They are stiff enough that I notice the lack of action by the shocks. I'm not sure about the rain performance because I haven't really pushed them in the rain. If they had the right size I wouldn't hesitate to put them on the MM. Cheers.

I finally got some pics so you guys can see what the 255/55's look like out back. So far (~1000mi) they have been great tires - wet or dry, great grip, very quiet! Goodyear should definitely make these in our OEM front size. Until then I've got the same BFG's up front.

Would this tire in 245/45R18 work for the FRONTS without tripping (TC/ABS)? I would be running 255/55/R18's for REARS. I've heard good things about these tires!
