What's the part number for the light bulb inside the headlight switch?

My daily driver marauder has a burned out headlight switch bulb, I just want a replacement bulb assy

Pulled the little bulb out of a spare dash switch, wow wasn't anything I was expecting!

It's about 3/4 of a inch long, can only guess the "shaft" comes with a new bulb?

    Thanks

    That is correct.

I retrofit an LED into the holder.

It's a Type B Tall (T4) bulb, I replaced mine a few years ago in the MM and my Taurus.

Go with either Super White or Green. The SW will give it a nice bright factory green look and the Green one will give it a deeper green color.

No part number, I roll my own... modify the socket, LED, resistor, wire, etc.

The first time I dealt with this problem, I just bought a new headlamp switch and swapped it. Afterwards, I had nothing to lose by examining the old switch and figured out the Radio Shack lamp solution as well. Unfortunately with RS now out of business, eBay is probably the best resource. The generic part number for the incandescent lamps Radio Shack sold is '7219'. They're a bit smaller than the factory lamps, but they do work. Be careful when you peel off the green rubber hood. The lamps run hot and often they get melted a bit bet can be reused. I used a drop of silicone adhesive to tack the green hood onto the new lamp.

The leads on the 7219s are usually too short so I had to extend them an inch or so using a soldering ion. I just clipped the leads from the old burnt-out bulb as they were the correct gauge. As others have said, they run kind of hot for their size and don't last very long.

So I now have a good spare after re-lamping it and just rotate my switches as needed. Repairs are quicker and you can do the 'surgery' on the bad one when you have time. That came in handy a few weeks ago when the one installed on the car burnt out again. I got about 10 years out of it.

I thought about an LED retro-fit, but there isn't much room in the post and I didn't have the interest in trying to figure out how to stuff a dropping resistor in there.

    Good luck!

I was able to source a 10 pack of LED bulbs and new shaft sockets for 2.25 shipped. Driving down to the local radio shack would have been 28 miles away

Let you guys know how well they work, or if they are a complete flop
