The 1969 Mercury brochure shows a black styled steel wheel for the Marauder, while the 1970 brochure shows a gray wheel.
Is this really a difference between years?

I don't claim to be an expert but I started out with the "luxury" hubcaps on my '70 X100. Later I found the Kelsey Hayes wheels. They tend to get a chalky gray. I had them sand blasted and painted a dark gray which the Mustang Club of America said was correct for these wheels. You might check with Jon Snopko on mercurymarauder.org to see what he says. I got 5 wheels, trim rings and correct center caps for $450 + shipping. He also had another set but they had different caps with an older Mercury head.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't really help. No offense to the Mustang group, but too much risk they are transferring info about Mustang wheels to the Marauder. The brochure clearly shows them as gray, but it doesn't mean they were produced that way.

From what I remember when they were new I don't think they had any paint on them at all just polished fins and gray aluminum. Same as a 67 shelby kelsy hays wheel but they had a chrome 15x 7 rim.
