Still recalling the 1973 Honda Elsinore for sale I rode ‘used’ in 1974. Probably Honda’s first 2 stroke that I recall. Didn’t buy it due to the obvious crash damage and repairs - most noticeable to the motor’s crankcase. Most powerful MX’er I had ridden to date.

Funny you say that as I’ve been on the hunt for an early Elsinore enduro for street use. The prices are all over the map.

I just went thru this in my son’s 2000 Ranger. Plus unsticking the interior light switches in the latches, oil pan gasket, water pump, thermostat, front driveshaft, brakes, both heads, and whatever else I tried to block from memory...

Turned a lemon into a decent little truck at least.

I hear the both of you!

    I still have a lemon of a 99' Ranger 3.sl0w....

After finishing the yard work today, I have to replace the broken passenger's door handle. (need to find my BIG rivet gun for those 2 huge rivets)
Then I have to hunt for the latest coolant leak.
Just finished all the heater & radiator hoses a few months ago, and now I have a new leak off the front corner-passenger side of the engine.
Can't ignore it as it is dumping a gallon of coolant everytime I drive this turd.
Can't locate it with an inspection mirror, so I'll have to take half the engine apart to figure out WTF is wrong now!
I can't wait to bury this annoying POS and buy a new 2018 STX EcoBoost 10 speed!
There has been something wrong with this truck just about EVERY week that I have owned it!.....

Joe I really hate to say this but... upper front passenger cover is NOTORIOUS for leaks! It’s where the cover acts as a chase between the pump and the block and the aluminum pits. It also requires an oil pan gasket. I couldn’t find it myself either, not even a mirror or the Milwaukee inspection camera until I had the front dress off.

To do the pan I had to lift the engine as high as possible and put impact sockets between the mount and frame, also lift the trans as high as possible with my adjustable jack stand, remove starter, and finally remove passenger side axle mount bolt, plus prying down another 1/2” on the axle. It barely slid out!

And whoever designed the engine plate without a removable lower section should be dragged out back and butt ***** with a battle axe..

But... on a lift, turn around on the pan can be done in about 1 1/2-2 hours as all the bolts for everything is pretty easily accessible.

    Good luck!

Build a YZ426, convert to a super motto and call it a day.

You will never keep the front wheel down no matter the speed..

Or I read Honda is bringing back the CR500 this year..

My 125 is more than enough for how fearless (stupid at my age) I ride. I did however show my son how to properly hill climb his 250 last summer though. 2nd gear on the back wheel all the way up! He kept killing it half way up the loonng STEEP wooded trails which in turn was killing me having to climb up the trail to turn him around.. He’s got it now though!

I want a drz 400sm but I have a height issue or lack there of. We've decided on a pair of klx140s a L and G model. Throw a Baja design enduro kit and some dot tires and be done for now. It's only $5.00 to convert a dirt title to street title here in Ohio.

No kidding? That’s cheap. I doubt nazi Illinois even offers it.

Recognize the rear fender on the yellow ‘85 RM? I custom cut it to fit from a DRZ 400 LOL As much as I dig vintage survivors, I simply couldn’t stomach the original shorty curved one. I trimmed the shovel head off the front too..

Way more modern from a distance.

I’m thinking I may offload the YZ and finally get my blower rebuilt.

    LOL...

The repair procedure that you are describing is wayyyyy more than I am willing to invest in this 293,000 mile Ranger.

    I'm thinking:
    - Find MFin' leak path
    - Spray leak path with BrakeKleen
    - Let surfaces dry
    - Squeeze as much silicone sealant into the crack as possible
    - Drive until this thing dies... or new F150 STX arrives.

And yes....have Battle Axe....let the beating of the dim witted design engineer begin!

I like ripping this puppy when I get board of the marauder, kick start and no speedo is fun at times lol. When I bought it the electrical ran off a drill battery!

    Let's see....

    The new marauder got
Replacement mufflers and rear cat delete
Wheels soaked in acid and cleaned, tail pipes cleaned. Repaired broken center console, rear trunk lid facia, blend door motor replacement, newer gooder passenger seat. Led cluster bulbs, replaced fake gauges with real auto meter gauges, removed tint on four doors. Tried to buff out the faded headlights.

The p71 recieved the lesser of the two marauder passenger seat. I need to fix a 1/2" cut in the drivers seat then the p71 will get that. And rear marauder seat.
