    S spring

    Can someone tell me what the function is of the “S” spring inside the differential?

    the function of the s spring is to keep the side spider gears in place within the carrier housing, and apply pressure/traction to the wheel with the most traction on a wet/slippery surface hence the term limited slip

    This spring loads the posi clutches in the carrier. This resistance against the spider gears makes both axles tend to turn instead of the one axle with least resistance.
