    Carb swap

Well I decided to get that 65 Chevy pickup tomorrow and I wanna swap the carb because the current one keeps falling apart. It is currently 2 barrel and I wanna make it a 4. Is this a simple swap or is there more to it. I was told as long as it fits the intake it should be fine. Is this true?

No, it is not a simple swap. You have to swap intakes and make sure four barrel is compatible with fuel, choke, and linkage hookup.

You can get better two barrels that will be a simple swap.

    Yes who would have thought.

I think I will take Zacks advice and keep it a 2 and maybe upgrade it later. I still need a new carb so I'll pick one up at the car show this weekend.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and subscribe to Car Craft magazine. I get it for $10/year.

There is nothing too difficult about swapping out a manifold on a small block Chevy V-8. (It's NOT a six cylinder because 2bbl carbs didn't come on those). It's highly unlikely that the engine would be a big block. Again, I don't see many BB Chevys with 2 bbl carbs.

If it's the original engine, I'd guess it's a 283, 307, or 327. After 43 years a 305 or 350 could have been swapped in. Changing a manifold on any of these engines is the same process.
