Exclamation Ford Teeters Toward Junk With Moody's

I had no idea. Every time I drive all I see is Ford Pick Ups and they cost a fortune!!!

"Ford Motor Co.’s credit rating was cut to one notch above junk by Moody’s Investors Service, adding to the car company’s woes after it embarked on a costly restructuring that could take years to complete.

Moody’s downgraded Ford to Baa3 from Baa2 with a negative outlook, it said in a report Wednesday. The ratings company cited erosion in Ford’s “global business position and the challenges it will face implementing” its restructuring effort that could rack up $11 billion in the next three to five years.

Allow me to agree. I work in repo and auction and a majority of Ecoboost F150 trucks suffer from massive exhaust leaks at the turbocharger with ~70K miles. This coming from a guy that remembers when 300,000 miles could be had with reckless maintenance on V8 and straight 6 engines. We had a '17 Fiesta with a bad transmission abandoned at 2700 miles.

The small ecojunk motors are blowing up left & right.

Pick Ups and SUVs are outrageously expensive and we have a booming economy.

If Ford can't make money now how can it ever. They need to fire the Board and All Top Management.

Is it the EPA? Once upon a time, they could sell XXX Ford Escorts to get the CAFE where it needed to be and still sell what people actually wanted ie: Town Cars and F150s. Now they are phasing out little cars so the truck has to get the MPG on its own. Tall order for a 5,000 lb vehicle weighed down with airbags, back up cameras, antilock brakes, 5 mph bumpers....must pass small offset crashes/rollovers..and the engine has to run on 87-91 octane. I give Ford credit at least Ford stepped up and went to aluminum that saved 700 lbs, but at some point the project is hitting the constraints of regs, economics, and physics.

    Really!?
I haven't seen anything about an epidemic of Ecoboost motor failures.

Want to know why Honda and Turdyota hardly ever use turbos...?
Because turbo motors need more frequent oil changes if you want them to live a long, trouble free life.
Honda and Turdyota owners don't even know what an oil dipstick looks like....let alone how their road going appliance works.

BTW...the little 2.7L runs wayyyy quicker than everyone expects....

    1. Ford never took a government bailout. Kudos to them for that.
    2. The management decisions are hugely impacted by governmental regulations. Last I heard the ridiculous Obama fuel mileage requirements have not been lifted. V8's? Gone.
    3. Unions wages kill the bottom line and to date the Jap makers here are still non union. Look around at all the Jap cars everywhere.
    4. China will be making all our cars and trucks too in the near future unless President Trump can level the playing field.

I totally agree......just pullin' your chain!!

Hopefully Ford will back away from the "Eco-Crap"??

I never figgered squeezing several hundred HP from little motors was very smart and I guess it's coming back to haunt them!!

If I had any turbo, I'd always run Mobil 1 in there, change it every 3,000 miles and before I shut the thing off after a long hard ride, I'd let it idle in the driveway for a minute.
