Good you can start the Q&A to stalling the convertor or flashing it.

Here is how I got the most out of my stock TC....
Sit at light with left foot firmly on the brakes...
Right foot on Accelerator to the tone of 2200-2600 RPM...
Right before light turns green release brake under left foot...
then try pushing gas peddle through the floor board...
Caution: Do not be chewing gum, it may be forced to the back of your head.
it's just a part of the car. it isn't some special gizmo that has a magic button. nm, you've posted too many times to be serious. Although, I have found that cruising at 25 then punching it is the best gear change

That's the idea. The higher stall speed converter attempts to ge the engine rev closer to the power band before launching. Stall speed is the speed at which the turbine and the rotor (the spinny part and the drivey part) are turning the same speed.
When the converter 'flashes' it is basically like a clutch drop. It's a little slower (split seconds), but much better (clutches can't multiply torque). The fluid is quickly forced to move the two halves of the TC at the same speed. During this 'flash', (very oversimplified) the TC reaches it's max torque multiplication factor (which is like 1.9 or so stock), so for that instant you are cramming twice the torque (400 or so at 2500 RPM) through the drive line for an awesome (gum swallowing) launch.
This phenomenon increases as one increases the stall speed (closer to peak power/torque) and gets higher torque multiplication (Precision Industries is 2.5), hence the reason people so love the PI 3000 and 3500's.

Or you could get a Stallion and use your stock TC as a doorstop.
Might be heavy enough to anchor a small boat, too.

nice explaination, magindat. my dad explained it to me a while ago and it's about the same, but yours is a bit better

You wouldn't really be "hurting" your brakes. Just kind of pre-loading the TC, it's not like you would be doing a burnout or anything.

Temps dropped into the 60's tonight and I attempted a TC flash launch and a TC stalled launch. Both set my rear tires up in smoke but the flashed launch let me spin all the way through first and some of second before the tires grabbed and bogged me down to take off, The stalled launch spun through first but bogged me down as soon as it shifted into second so its very possible that flashing the convertor is the stronger launch.
This test will have to wait for the track for rock solid proof and traction.
