    Cold Weather is here

Its about 0 degrees here now and boy does the Marauder like it. I read somewhere that 10 degrees cooler of ambient is worth roughly 1% more horsepower. So if my car was making 250 in Sept and its 70 degrees colder, that's 7 X 2.5hp = 17.5 extra to play with. Add in the decreased grip from harder tires, lots of salt & crap on the roads, and I am having lots of fun at every stop sign today!

The cold weather is phenominal I agree. I store mine, but two weeks ack it was dry and 41 degrees. I had the most thrilling freeway run I have had since I was running 114 race gas.

I cannot imagine how my car would run at 0 Faranheit....with traction....OMG, I'd probably be able to dip into the 12's.

Yeahl, it's currently -19C (0F), or 32C with the wind chill (-15F). That's waaay to cold, for my liking. Funny thing is it's really been all-of-a-sudden. Last week it was nice, for this time of year. Now, it's down-right frigid.

I've also found dry traction is laking, with the extra power from the cool air, snow tires on, and a layer of krusty salt. With TC off, it'll spin the tires, with less than 1/2 throttle. Gotta be careful - I need to make sure these softer compound snows last me at least a couple of seasons.

    Wink

It's cool here today. Had a Navigator try to run me, felt guilty Marauderizing him.

    Traction

I've ben using 2nd gear starts from full stop for 36,000 miles ( wife has a neck problem) . You get instant acceleration without the break-away in 1st. My computer has apparently learned this pattern and I get very acceptable acceleration without much throttle and no slipping. I shift to Drive at about 2,000 rpm with no change in further shifts. Ilike it---my 2cts.
