Air-conditioning dos and doníts: Refrigerants and the law

Came in my 'in-box' today - interesting. Have had no real experience with R-134 beyond every vehicle so equipped has been completely reliable a/c wise. 1988 Ford Ranger was converted after the dryer medium disintegrated. System flushed out, new orifice tube, lube oil and refrigerant - no seals or hoses changed. Blew as cold as it ever did. Still have a long unused R-12 'gauge tree' hanging in my shop.

Very informative.
I still have a big ol' can of r12 somewhere in the garage. I think there's some little cans too.

Peaked my interest... I still have cans of r12 and charging hose....

"You can find many videos and web forum posts where people retrofit R152a into cars that originally had R12 and profess excellent results, but it is not approved by the EPA for retrofit applications, only new car applications."

I remember converting my 88 Crown Vic to R134. Worked good for about a year but then developed leaks. Won't hold refrigerant anymore so I don't bother anymore.
