    He was a Drill Instructor while I was in boot camp at PI, never met him but enjoyed everything he did after. RIP Gunny

    RIP Gunny !!

    Being a former Drill Sergeant myself, I loved how he skirted the lines of abuse and building up a troops character in the full metal jacket. I love the story of how he got the role as well. It would be hard for anyone to play that role unless they actually have done it before.

    Loved him in all his roles, especially "Mail Call" and "Lock & Load". He was priceless as Col. Leslie "Hap" Hapablap in The Simpsons, too...
