    Revving past redline w/stock 300B

Well, I've confirmed it . . . At least visually, with the factory tach.

From a standing stop, making an immediate left turn at full throttle, I can get the tach past redline to 6,200-6,350 (as far as I can tell) under that load, in the first upshift. It is easily repeatable (although, now that I know this, I'm not going WOT at standing start-left turns too often anymore). Never felt the limiter kick in. Under normal load (straight line acceleration), it'll shift at anywhere from about 5,750 to right at 6,000.

    This is a bone-stock 300B.

No, not bragging or anything, LML, I just thought it's weird that the factory programming lets it go past redline (which I would prefer NOT to do!).

Just went out to get the car washed, and of course, had to do a few more WOTs to "dry the car off." And even straight line, the darn thing is shifting at 6,150-6,200 RPM.

I'm seeing the same thing on my 300A. WOT shift at 6100 - 6200 RPM. I was under the impression, that the stock program is set to shift at 5750 RPM or there about.

Could it be, that it shifts below 6k, but the Tach just continues to REV up without load for a brief moment? So what we see isn't a "Full load RPM on the Tranny"?

    Any ideas?

This engine has more potential than the factory tach conveys. While I don't recommend keeping it there on a regular basis, I have hit the rev limiter many times. I'm sure Ihave set that overspeed code in the pcm but hey, that's why I bought this car. Being a dealer tech, if I break it I'll cover my a-- and fix it. That rev limiter is a good tool set at a point low enough to where if you hit it , it will set a code but not damage anything. I had a 289 hipo that would turn 7200 rpm (it quit pulling at 6800). This engine design is superior and should be capable of 7500 if normally aspirated. If your pcm is moded and your not getting a limiter that may be an issue. JUST DON'T FORGET TO SHIFT!

Okay, the stock engine speed limiter is at 6500.In the eariler Cobra's this motor turned 7200. I don't see a problem. At 6500 the EEC says 'whoa, you shall spin no faster' If 6500 isn't safe for the motor, why would they put the rev limiter there instead of lower?

P.S. If you are running a chip with out an engine speed limiter, I recomend you get that fixed, as one missed shift could be a big problem. Ofcourse it might be kind of interesting to know just how fast the motor can turn before...6500...6800..7100...7 400...7700..BOOM!
